I just wanted to hear your opinions on phenolic tips on your break stick. I have been thinking about having one put on mine to get more speed from the cb but it looks like you don't have as much control of it. I would like to hear from ya'll and what you use.

Get a White Diamond tip and don't look back.

I love uninformed polls. Like if its not one then its nothing. Theres many other tips than phenolic out there that dont fall in the category of regular.

White Diamond tip or G10 are both way better than phenolic imo.

I also love uninformed people. Isn't white diamond and G10 both leather tips? I was considering leather as regular. Sorry for the confusion.

G10 and the white diamond are not leather, different materials.

I voted phenolic, I have one of them on one shaft, g10 on another.

Have used white diamonds as well, great tip also.

Controll issues, work on your break and where you are hitting the rack, I park the cueball center table with mine, without it getting kicked around by other balls.

Even with a phenolic tip, I find with a smooth stroke, you can get all the control you need for the break.

All the info that I can find say they are leather, where can I find out more?

Do phenolic, white diamond and G10's damage the CB?
Phenolic and WD don't but I have heard things about the G10's damaging cue balls. Remember that is not fact - just what I have heard. I have never heard of the other two damaging the balls though. I think there was a big debate on here a few months back about G10's damaging balls. Maybe someone can find it.

I use a WD tip and have for almost 3 years. I love it. I have one on my break cue and my jump cue. When I break I hit as close as I can to center ball and the center of the head ball. Control is not an issue. If you don't hit the head ball square - no matter what kind of tip you have control will be an issue.

ive never had problems with control with my phenolic, but i recently switched to a white diamond and love it, it has a little give so fo rme it breaks better (similar to the old sledgehammers), but it jumps awesome too.

I have one but I'm going to change it out for a Tiger leather break tip when I get a chance. The phenolic is too hard for me to control. I love it for jumping, but not for breaking.

I break with a phenolic tip and I feel confident of my control. The tip jumps very easily too but draw or stop English on my jump shots is far less reliable than with a hard leather tip.

I am able to draw and stop with the WD on my jump cue. It is very hard yet holds chalk very well FWIW.

I go back and forth on this one. Right now I am using a Sledgehammer, and breaking very well with it.
But I think in the long run, the best tip/break cue is the one you are most comfortable with.

White Diamond all the way!!!
Sometimes I'll break, then run the balls with my break cue equipped with a White Diamond. Fantastic tip IMHO.

G-10 is Glass
White Diamond is a fibre/resin

It is rumored that G-10 has damaged balls and I can believe it.

IMO the Tiger leather break tip and the White Diamond are the best out at this time for all aspects of the break game. The White Diamond is an excellent jump tip as well. In fact, that's what it does best!

Once I achieved control with the phenolic, I also found myself at a higher skill level in my shooting, therefore I must conclude that some my criticism of the phenolic was really misplaced & actually a function of my inadequate mastery of fundamentals. Phenolic does not forgive. Charley Bond's The Great Break Shot is quite helpful.

However, the phenolic does require more careful chalking.

WD, G10, phenolic

Are the White Diamond & the G10 synthetic like phenolic or are they leather? Where do they rank in the hardness ratings?

I break with a Jerico Stinger which comes equiped with a canvas/resin composite tip. It took a little getting used to, but cue ball control isn't too much of an issue. People who aren't familiar with it are more likely to sent the CB off the table, as it really takes top spin.
I found that if I hit more to the center ball I have better control with it and a nice spread on the break.

I guess i vote phenolic, because it isn't leather
