Phenolic

^
K, thnx Mase.
I just ordered a few tan phenolics from Mcmas b/c they have em with 1/2 id.
I like to bore em and thread em.
I'd get the white phenolics with 5/8 and 3/4 id's when you get some.
Make sure they are not cueballs though.:D

Yes Joey.... White phenolic, they do sell it !!! and did you know that most pool balls are phenolic as well and you can cut and machine down used sets and have all the colors of the rainbow to make ring billets with, as I have done and you can get white phenolic ferrules from the cueball too !!!

For example 6-ball is large rings and 14-ball is small rings

I will enclose a pic to show what I'm talking about !

You are only as limited as your resourcefulness !!!

Mason, please excuse this interruption to your thread, I just felt compelled to respond to Joey's surprised yet some how condescending overtoned remark toward white phenolic...

By the way... Beautiful work Mason ! I like the backdrop.. it compliments the personality of the cues woods !

I feel compelled to ask this question Eddie, with all you experience of 18 yrs, why do most of your posts sound alot like your a fairly conceited person, who likes to take cheap shots and talk down to other builders?? Usually with that much experience, one would have learned a slight bit more ability to Not sound like that. I also feel, like Joey, a true " white phenolic'" in linen or paper or canvas type is not a standard offering in cue supplier's catalogues, so when stated, I would have asked the same as it would be an item of interest to me. You are free to make things as you want, etc. but I must say, for people to take you, as seriously as you do, using billard balls for rings, WD40 on shafts, and superglue to hold it all together, kinda makes a person think that you should be the last person to be critical of others. This is just my opinion, and, as I haven't seen or played with one of your cues, I can't say yea or ney of your cue building, just judging by your comments about your methods and how you seem to talk down to Builders that have built up large followings based on years of successful work, and then make vague references to the prices that they charge as being more than they should, I would be skeptical of buying one of yours. (no offence meant) This is just my .5 cents, like it or not

REALLY???!!!!
IF you can read a little, Mason was talking about TUBES. NOT BALLS.
LINEN PHENOLIC, not RESIN PHENOLIC BALLS.
I have bought tubes from Mason. Just got a bunch of melamine from him.
STILL WAITING for WHITE LINEN PHENOLIC but am not hopeful.
Not hopeful in finding wound paper-based phenolics and clean double-blacks either.
As usual you concluded kinda fast.

Hey genious...

When you turn a round object into a cylinder and then bore a hole through it.. it becomes a tube !!!!!

But you knew that !!! "you were just testing me weren't you ?"

You genius.
The phenolics Mason was getting were rolled tubes.
Now go back to turning shafts b/c you are living on cue downpayments right now.

Dave

First off !!!

Mason I appologize for these interuptions in your thread, please excuse this one in particular !

Dave,

I am a far cry from being conceited... I am very confident however, but I do NOT or will NOT ever put myself above anyone !!!

Me and JoeyinCali constantly badger each other... "it's a given" don't take it personal "we don't"

I solicited opinions on using WD-40 as a shaft sealer and wanted feedback.. I did NOT say I was using it on customers cues !!!

Secondly, I respond to other cuemakers the exact way the treat me... just becasue someone is popular or celebrity cuemaker status doesn't mean they are any better than I am.. it just makes them well known... and are NOT above negative retorts !!!

I have been around "elitist" people and mainstream popularity pretty much all my life from one type or another and I have come to one conclusion with all my years of exposure to thier self-importance persona... "they are a bunch of spoiled whiners who actually believes they ARE better than you and that the world is theirs and don't give a damn about any one else but themselves and are NEVER wrong" !

I do use superglues and epoxies on ferrules, depending on what the customer wants....and have NEVER EVER had a problem in 18+yrs I have been doing this... "mabey I'm just lucky"

I ask for advice and opinions on here regularly, and do NOT consider my cuebuilding methods better or worse, just different... I'm not afraid to experiment and try different applications and then when I find one that works well I will incorporate it into my procedure, so I offer ideas and ask for insight on existing ones....

Dave, I find there are lot of fellow cuemakers that don't approve of me building and selling my work this inexpensively, as well as being so open about the costs of materials and ragging on overpriced art... so this warrants a cetain response and hard feelings with certain fellow cuemakers and thier sidekicks....

I personally don't give a damn whether other Cuemakers appove of me or not and that goes for thier groupies too.... they do NOT pay my bills, Customers DO and I am here to cater to the customer's exact wants and needs... and give them complete 100% quality and satisfaction at a very realistic and affordable price... I'm easy to talk to and can be reached pretty much anytime....

Just thought I would clarify a little of the clouded perception you have of my behaivor and intentions....

With this being said let's refrain from walking all over Mason's efforts and keep our posts thread related !!!

Sincerely, Eddie Wheat "wannabe cuemaker"

Sincerely Eddie Wheat

Don't speak for me.
Don't drag my name in your promotional stint either.
After making cues for 18 years and you have to resort to promotional gimiks and badmouthing the whole industry and fellow makers to sell your cues maybe you should try something more effective.
MAKE GOOD CUES.

Got My White Phenolic

I received my White Phenolic Order from Mason and Company. I am very satisfied with the color.:D . It is white, not crean/off- white.. It's a tube, has woven fibers. I will try to make something in White. I gotta core it before splicing into it.. If only my Urethane wasn't an Amber tint.:( Maybe someday, I will have White Caps;) ..Thanks Mason... Alton

That's What I'm Known For.... My Reading & Seeing Comprehension

Maybe, I'm getting tired of the way you spell "mabey."

Doug
( perhaps ) :)

Edited to add: Aw, just forget that I mentioned it.

Keep digging Buckwheat.
Maybe you had too much to drink again.

You're living off deposits? Good for you.

Try not stalking me and Dave and find a better shaft supplier instead.
Someone you can't blame b/c suddenly your shafts warped.

I'm not complaining about my shaft supplier or blaming them.... I said I took the stability for granted!!!!

"huge difference"

Perhaps if you read my entire paragraph instead of surgically extracting a specific sentence and take it completely out of context you wouldn't need to post these unneccessary retorts... "oh but wait... if you didn't do that, then we would never hear from you" !!!

Is that a good thing or a bad thing ??????
