We're in agreeance-
No, the ENTIRE pool boom drove the demand up. The movie helped EVERYONE in the game at that time. That is what you fail to comprehend. The movie caused a unilateral explosion, not only Balabushka's went up, but Palmers, Muecci's, Gina's, SW's, Szamboti's, table sales, room openings.. all of this, caused by a boom time in pool.
Balabushka was used as a name because it was THE name in cues for players. I believe if no cue was named, it would have happened exactly the same way.
I travel a lot, people always ask if I saw TCOM (Dumbest question I get asked by peers) I don't believe one of the few hundred people I talk with, could name the cue that gets mentioned. So really, I believe that only pool people care about that aspect of the movie.
I was 20 in and playing pool 1986, out of curiosity what were you doing?

There's nothing wrong with my comprehension-
We both concur that TCOM
(as did it's predecessor "The Hustler"20 years prior)
buoyed the wave that the entire billiard industry rode- Wunderbar!
Finally some common ground...
I had been playing for a year at that time.
Yes memories and time are indeed powerful drivers of retail.
Again brother, I have no issue with any of things you put forth.
As you think I am oblivious, which is fine,
When I have a question, I go to the experts to answer it.
As I have most of the same connections as you and maybe more, you would think that a little professional courtesy would come into play.
You had to get your knowledge somewhere, right?
I get mine from the source.
You've disparaged me repeatedly, very unjust and unnecessary.
I'll only conclude this with-
Everything is connected to pool-and is therefore a topic that is touched on or delved into for the film.
