Hahaha.

Gaga is in a zone on this tournament!
He beat Efren 13-10 in the semis then Alcano 15-9 in finals.
He had to come from losers bracket though after beaten
by Bustamante. They have now 2 Philippine Open 9-ball titles
each (Bustamante (2005-06), Gabica (2004,2007)).
His breaks is just monster plus he makes very
few unforce errors.

Congratulations Gaga! The Cebuanos are mighty proud of you!
And hoping also that Warren Kiamco (another cebuano) will come out
his shell this year (I mean he did before but he is in a slump lately.).

Congratulations to Mr. Gabica. He must have been really in the zone, considering that Efren was playing good all throughout the competition.

I was just wondering, what is Gabica's record in international tournaments?

In case anyone hadn't noticed the filipinos are interchangeable. One day Django wins, one day it's Kiamco, then it's Orcullo's turn, now let Alcano take one, and here's one for Alex, and one for Lee Van, and don't forget Efren, and what about Jose, and now it's Luat's turn. And there's ten or twenty more waiting in the wings for their turn, just like Gabica, who only plays Alex's speed.

It's kind of like pool's version of "musical chairs". You just have to be ready when the music stops. Don't try to keep track of them. The faces and names may change, the game does not. Are you getting the picture now?

Honestly, i dont remember any international tournament that he won.
But dont be deceive he could win the WPC as much Alex Pagulayan
or Ronnie Alcano can. ;)
He won by the way gold medal in 9-ball in the last asian games
and actually he could have won the gold in 8-ball also but he was kind of careless and the unheralded japanese strikes back to win the gold.

Gaga? Isn't that the female version of gago? ;)

Yes in tagalog but the 'Gaga' i mention is in Cebuano (mainly spoken in Visayas and Mindanao area).
And 'Gaga' in Cebuano is a pet name for your most well loved child or partner.
It is the shorthand version of the cebuano word 'Palangga'
which could be roughly translated as 'sweetie' or 'precious one'. ;)
So the next time you come to Manila you could call your girl 'Palangga'
and she could understand it even if she is a tagalog. ;)

Hehe, ok :)

Philippines and all your dialects. It is hard enough trying to learn Tagalog alone, and then you have like a million different dialects/languages too... phuh... Saklolo!!! :D

Hahaha. :D
That's the beauty to be in a multi-lingual environment you could easily
adopt in different situations and cultures also. That could
be the reason for the OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) phenomenon.
Because filipinos IMO has higher chance of learning new language or adopting to new environment and/or culture than other cultures/countries.

Then translate it to the pool world.
When Efren or Parica or Luat or Dennis or Marlon etc
came to the Unites states they learn basically rotation
and for the newer ones 9-ball/8-ball but look how easily
they learn new version of pool (e.g. 1 Pocket, Bank Pool).
Again this is only my opinion and my own observation and meant no offense to other culture.

That's why at one time one of the foreign historian in the
late 1800's observing how filipino easily adopt or assimilate
different culture mentions that the filipinos are the
'most cosmopolitan people of the world'. ;)

But you're from Norway, you probably at least understand 2 or 3 languages. ;)

Fascinating that you actually used "dialects" the same way Filipinos use it which is actually wrong because Cebuano is a language and not a variety of Tagalog.

Are you sure you're not married to a Filipina? :D

Time will show, lot's of great girls in Philippines ;)

I speak Norwegian and English (English with bad grammar :D), understand Swedish and Danish of course, and I understand German ok, as long as it's not spoken but written :o Now I am trying to learn Tagalog, but that is really difficult!

I have tried to learn Spanish too, but never got the motivation right, so the only thing I remember now is how to order beers :D
