Philippine open "live" score/results

Corey's out. He was beaten by Lu Hui Chan 4 to 9.

De Luna now leading 5 to 4 over Babica. Jeff was down 1 to 3 earlier.

Got to hand it to the Pinoys. Even without their heavy hitters, they still manage to land 2 in the final 6. If Jell De Luna wins this ongoing match, 2 pinoys will be in the final 4.

I don't like to say it, but with all these top Filipino players out of the picture, we are seeing a lot of new faces. I guess in a way it's good for pool. Those top players are either at their prime or past it. It's kind of nice to see these rising stars in action at the final 4. Don't get me wrong I love watching Efren, Bustamante, Pagulayan, Orcollo, etc play. But this is nice too. Different, but nice.

My pick is De Luna

I'd like to know also.

I think the last 3 games will be on SOPCAST - channel 6029 - STAR SPORTS starting at 3:00 am, Sunday, US EST or midnight US pacific.

I thought it would be on at 2 am as usual but when I looked at their schedule, it starts at 3 pm over there so that is equivalent to 3 am us est here.

It is going to be:

PULPUL vs DE LUNA

CHAN vs RICKY YANG

Curious, how did somebody determine that 6029 was the right number?

I did a Google search and never discovered that. Plus there are very few sport channels on the Sopcast program.

I used myp2p.eu to connect to the channel through Sopcast. I use the Sopcast media player plug-in to watch through Windows Media Player and it showed 6029 as the channel number in the lower left corner.

IamMark...That statement is ludicrous! The reason the BEST Filipino players are not in this event is strictly political. If they were there, it would be them in the top spots...not players like De Luna (he plays well, but is not a top tier player, of the same caliber as Reyes, Bustamante, Orcullo, etc.).

You can say whatever you want about Jeff De Luna, but I have seen enough of him in live-action to probably bet on him against every american player playing 9 or 10-ball.

Imo, he's a top tier player.

WOAH... the matches are already being streamed live! I thought it would be much later, but it's on now!

*Yang just beat Chan 9-7

*Oh well... now it's gone off, but they did show it... too bad I only got to see the last rack

oops, I spoke too soon again... now it's back on lol

should be a great match... Pulpul vs De Luna

What is the deal with the black frame the balls are sitting on after the break? I notice that they remove it after the break, but I have no idea why it is there.

We were talking about it earlier in this thread... it's a plastic template that they are using to rack the balls instead of a regular triangle rack.

That is the racking template. There were earlier posts on here about it. Japanese product I think.

De Luna 3-2.

rack template

yeah this is the frist time i've seen it too. i'm guessing that it has "dimples" at each position except the ten ball, that the balls fall into. looks like it's working pretty well. i've yet to see a cluster where the balls are racked after each break. it also looks like it's harder for the ten to roll off towards the corner pockets. unless kicked off course.

Jay Helfert

haha i can see jay helfert in the front row watching. he's also taking notes or stats of some kind. curious! i wonder why he's not in the commentary booth. i'm watching this on star sports in korea and we don't get any commentary feed. just the sound around the table. for some reason my reciever tells me that i'm only getting center and sub-woofer channels. no left and right. anybody else in the same situation?

I just noticed on the last break that the ten ball went to roll onto this rack and then rolled back....maybe a half inch or quarter inch. Maybe that rack isn't quite as good of an idea as I thought

Gunzby, read my post - nr 109 - in this thread, and you will see an example of what could happen with the plastic template.

That is a nightmare scenario. It is just a bad idea to use that rack. I'm sure they are sponsors infusing money into that tournament, but it is just a bad idea.
