even gambling in back rooms someone in the audience will pull out a phone and put you on tiktok or youtube. if you are good you will get exposure whether you want it or not.

jaybee is case in point i guess. most if not all of his matches has been filmed with phone cameras in pool joints, yet he's like a rock star in his first real tournament
 
Emil Gangflot butchered a fairly easy runout from the 8 to the 9, and missed a thin cut, leaving Robbie Capito a shot similar to what Fedor missed against Busti. A tough hill-hill loss for sure.
 
When I first joined AzBilliards back in 2003, I already knew how strong the Filipino contingent was, led by Jose Parica and the so-called "Filipino Invasion." Funny thing is I used to write "Phillipino" or "Philippino" with a p-h until a kind AzB-er set me straight, and I never forgot it.

By the way, the proper title is "Philippines Open," with an s. Filipino refers to the people and culture, while Philippine describes things like the Philippine flag or Philippine government. So is "Philippine Open" wrong, as like the title of this thread? Well, yes and no. It depends on how you look at it, I guess. Matchroom went with "Philippines Open," with an s.

I mention the correct spellings of these words because I have a hunch that we pool fans will be posting a lot about the Philippines, the Philippine culture, and the Filipino pool champions quite often in the future.

Plural too - as in all the islands. Cross lingual grammar is weird. I've heard references to females - actual females, referred to as "him" besides the dyslexic Ps and Fs.
 
I keep forgetting they are 12 hours ahead of Eastern USA time. We're down to six. Here's the scores at the time of this writing.

Jayson Shaw v. AJ Manus is in progress at the time of this post. Jayson is in beast mode and due for a win, but AJ is the talk of the pool world today and has no fear of anyone on the planet.

I like each one for different reason. I am a longtime fan of David Alcaide. I feel like Arseni Sevastyanov is making a statement in recent events. Robbie Capito should never be underestimated. Just that name pool name "The Cobra" for Jeffrey Ignacio is enough to strike to fear in anyone. Yeah, it's anybody's win at this juncture. They're all strong.
