I had to come check on here just to see what happened lol. Was looking forward to Efren vs Carlo
Broadcasters reported two days ago Efren was ill and would not be playing. He was wearing a mask at the Reyes Cup. Who knows. Maybe he had a bad bout with covid in the past and is being very cautious.

Gorst played maybe the worst match I've ever seen in his loss to Busty, but Busty broke very well and played generally well. Some odd misses, but he still has a powerful break!

bustie pushed vergara too, 7-7 at one point, maybe 8-8, i don't remember. vergara is a very strong player

I have to think playing on the Reyes did Manas a world of good. Safeties have been a weak spot, but he came thru with some big ones vs. Carlo.

Not anything like the Final 16 I was expecting. Shaw, Alcaide and Pijus - three of the four Euros left - have a good shot at winning this.

Busty had Vergara on the ropes, but Harry came thru with some good safeties and big shots in the final few racks to win 10-8.

If you're talking about Busty, it sounds like you've never seen him play before.
We've seen his stroke off the rail before, but it's just fabulous (disregard the results of this particular shot):

yes it's single elim 128 field. hopefully for the first and only time, because that's a format that's gonna lead to 100 filipino players and 28 international players..
Right! Who’s traveling to play in a single elimination tournament held in a mall 😂

pijus is the type of guy that will embrace the circumstances of this event, so i wouldn't be surprised if he went to another final. same goes for david, but in current form i like pijus over him.

roda is looking strong on the other side

Roda in top form can beat anyone. I think he is the third best player overall in the Philippines.

The end of the Gorst-Busty match was incredible. Loudest I've ever heard a pool crowd.

Where were all these people for the Reyes? Seems WNT should sell tickets for lush VP seats at the Reyes and let everyone else in for for free. Get a great crowd and see if you can make some money on concessions.

I would be shocked, shocked if this event doesn't return. It's been electric. The crowds at times seem to have swelled up to 500. Or even more.

Does the format need a change? Dunno. Maybe it's a good format for this event in that particular mall. Doesn't seem like it could hold a full 256-player open with double elimination.

If the format stays pretty much the same, the only think I would change is make the first round races to 11.

Woke up at last. Looks like I missed a whole lot of matches. Nice to see that Manas beat Carlo, who was playing his first match after an almost unprecedented two consecutive byes. Well done! Those two went from being scotch doubles partners a few days ago to adversaries.

Three Reyes Cup Team ROW members failed to reach the last sixteen in Gorst, FSR, and Neuhausen, but Shaw has advanced to Friday's play. The one non-Asian winner of a Matchroom major in 2025 that was in this field, Pijus Labutis, is still in.

Nice to see Michael Baoanan, Bernie Regalario, Jeff Roda and Harry Vergara continuing to show the solid form for which they are gradually becoming known.

Still a few Cinderella stories waiting to happen. Congrats to the sixteen survivors and wishing them all the best of luck on Friday.
