There are many popular tables being used here. You'll find Star Billiards in a lot of action rooms. Also there are Maxima tables, Mr. Sung, Rasson and very few Brunswicks. Predator makes several labels, all basically the same table. I'm pretty sure they all come from China.

The best part! You can buy a damn good pool table new for $1,500 US. Retail in the billiard supply stores is around $2,000, all accessories and installation included.

Yes, Brunswick GC for under two grand, straight from China! Cheap shipping and assembly of the pieces makes all the difference!

Diamonds are like hen's teeth, few and far between. A few upscale rooms have one. Way too expensive here.

Very interesting! Is the $1500 price you’re talking about for a new GC VII?
 
My friend just got a pool table from the Phillipines. It has terribly noisy subway pockets that take a long time to roll the ball and the undercarriage is amateurish. The rails look cheap but the rail action is very good. The pocket are cut narrowly and were bigger than Diamond tables by a 1/4”. The cloth was okay but it reminded me of a table you could order and assemble on your own at home. I know that is a naive statement but the quality reminded me of that.

Does it play great. No, but it plays better than OK. It is noisy and the return tray looks like a wire basket with a cheap plastic tray. Would I ever buy one? Absolutely not but it is much better than any table you can’t afford to buy so it has a market. It is a new table with a warranty so that’s very good. I’d rather get an old Olhausen, Brunswick or even a Rebco pool table that I see for sale that are still in great shape. It will cost more in the end run but better pool table for home use. If your budget doesn’t accommodate doing that, then this is absolutely the best way to go

In the action rooms its all drop pockets and good quality tables.

Your friend wasted his money on a cheap Chinese/Philippine knock off.
 
Do the Chinese tables there play short and bouncy like Diamonds, or long and normal bounce like GC's? I KNOW you know what I'm talking about.

The good tables I mentioned in post #1 play nice and straight. No bouncy rails. If the tables dont play good the players take their action elsewhere.

The bangers here will play on anything. Small time gamblers.

I don't know for sure what they're selling. The same Chinese companies that make parts for new Gold Crowns could also be making cheap knock offs. That's how they roll over there.

Cheap TV's and appliances that maybe last a year! I hear this all over. Only buy Japanese made (the best) or Korean!

the GC's are made by yalin. they make both their own GC clone, sold at probably half the price, and the new predator table that i forgot the name of
