In less than two weeks I will be on my way to my third visit to the Philippines in just 1,5 years. This time I will stay for 3 weeks, and I was happy to find out that there is also pool tournaments going on in the Philippines this time too.

20-22 June, Puerto Princesa Cup, in Palawan:

20-22 June, Villar Cup, Cebu:
http://www.azbilliards.com/2000storya.cfm?storynum=5312

Both tournaments are organized on the same dates, which I think is a little bit sad for me, since I can't be on both tournaments...

The tournament in Palawan is organized by Raya Sports/BSCP, and players as Jeffrey De Luna (hope he wins), Gabica, Chia Ching Wu, Ralf Souquet, Thorsten Hohmann, Marlon Manalo and nr 1 on the Guinness Tour, Chang, will enter this tournament.

The other tournament, The Villar Cup, is organized by BMPAP, and will be played in Cebu. It is a 64 player field, and it will be played in one of the biggest malls in Cebu, with players as Efren Reyes, Fransisco Bustamante, Roberto Gomez, Ronnie Alcano, Dennis Orcullo, Alex Pagulayan, Luat, J. Bustamante, G. Valle, Jharome Pena battling it out against players who has qualified by winning tournaments all over the Philippines. (I hope youngster Johann Chua performs well in this tournament)

Both tournaments have about 10 000 $ in first price.

It is no secret that I am a big fan of the Bugsy's guys, after becoming friends with many of them, so I will be in Cebu. Will try to keep you updated about that tournament. I am over the moon that I will get a chance to experience another big event in the Philippines.

Can't wait to go, just had to share my excitement with you guys :)

I'm practicing so I can hustle those guys.
In mahjong.

Thanks Roy! You are a great guy! Hope you enjoy yourself. Any reports would be appreciated.
Good luck.

PS With getting all these Filipino and Taiwanese names correct why are you still having trouble with my name? LOL!!!

Roy, I hope your trip exceeds your wildest dreams.

How far is the Phillipines from Norway? (Miles and Hours of flying)
Are you traveling with a companion or going by yourself?

Thanks and I know you'll have fun.

1,5 hours from Stavanger to Amsterdam, couple of hours waiting, then 12 hours flight to Manila.

I will be there together with "pooladdict" here on AZB.

Will try to update you guys on both the tournament and the money matches at nights.

Have a safe flight Roy. And enjoy your stay here in Manila :) I heard there are nice beaches in Cebu which you can visit while you are there.

Hahaha... It's a pain counting down. Have a safe trip. I wish I could also go as my family stays in Cebu. Unfortunately, work doesn't allow me to take a holiday.

Keep us posted on your trip.

Are you flying directly to Cebu or Manila first? Contact Verna or Perry the Pocket when you get here. I'm flying to Cebu from Davao so I'll see you there on the 20th.

Going to Manila first, then to Cebu the 19th I think. Haven't booked flight to Cebu yet.

Needs some days with practise at One Side before going to Cebu :)

When will you have names of all the players available? Will the last qualifiers be played this weekend?

You better hurry up then, I will arrive in Manila in about 16-17 hours ;)

Just finished the first part of the trip. My flight from Stavanger, Norway to Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Departuretime was 0645, so I decided to stay awake and play pool all night.

Departure from Amsterdam to Manila is just few hours away, and then 12 hours on the plane. I hope I can catch some sleep on that trip, cause when I arrive in Manila it's 0845 in the morning there.

PERFECT arrival time.
You won't have a jetlag.
Party all day then sleep at 2 am.:D

I have been writing a long report on my laptop, with pictures and video's also, but having problems with connect. Will try again. Short summary;

Arrived yesterday, played with local player Lolong. Won 1 set, lost 2.

Everyone here is talking about the big tournament coming up in Cebu, and it looks like it will be a deadly field for the qualifiers the next days. About 30 spots left for the 64-man field of the Villar Cup. Will be exciting!!

I was really looking forward to the 200 000 pesos match in 9-ball against Dennis Orcullo and Fransisco Bustamante tonight, but Django got sick, so instead I have to sweat Efren playing Lee Van Corteza in 10-ball, race to 26, for either 50 000 or 200 000. I forgot the amount... Efren was 7-1 up when I went downstairs to the internetcafe.

Efren challenged me in one-pocket also, but I said I wanted to see how he played against Lee Van first :D Think I will wait to play that match, he played awesome now :p

It was pretty cool to watch Efren when he was warming up before Lee Van arrived. He threw 3 balls on the table, and played 3-cushion with them. If one ball scratched, he tried to make the 2 remaining balls on the next shot. And he made it often too!!!

Back to One Side to finish the match!! (Have some short 3 minutes videos from it too)

Play Van-van for the same amount of money that you Efren wants you to play him. ;)

Good luck. Have fun. Like someone has to tell you that. JoeyA (Green with envy)
