i have heard if you buy a cue from the phillipines they will warp after they get here in the states? any truth to this? can anyone reccomend a maker or tell about there own experience with them?

there're a few cues from the PI that you won't hve to worry about warping. viattorre,QP, edwin reyes, and linds cues are all made in the PI and i've never heard of them warping.

i used to have a Queperfect cue. i had it for 3-4 years and i never had a problem with it. it's the moisture difference that causes the warping.....thats what i hear anyway

All depends on quality as with anything else. I would add Bebot Bautista to that list.

would like to make a correction..its "FILIPINO" not philippino.

Some other cues from the Philippines warps when shipped to US or any cold country. But there are some cuemakers now-a-days learned a technique on how to prevent warping.I know one of the hottest cuemaker right now is Bebot Bautista. He also offers warranty on his cues.

also, you can email Les Lacson (thegeneral@australiamail.com )for inquiries.:

They won't make you play better, so I don't see why you'd want one. However, Phillippi cues are made stateside and "phillippi" is almost like "philippines" :);)

I've heard that warping may happen with a cue produced in an environment significantly different from the region where you are in terms of humidity. Or even if a cue is kept in different humidity for a long time.
Some years ago such thing happened to one of the players who travelled to US from Russia: his cue got warped a bit during a tournament and got back straight when he returned home. And if it wasn't Mezz it was Predator then... go figure.

Good experience with Audrick and Joel Davidas

I own several Joel Davidas (JD Cues) and Audrick cues and have not experienced warping. I believe that it all comes down to the quality of the wood used along with proper preparation and drying time.

I have many wood carving I brought back from the Philippines 30 years ago. I think is it more to do with Humidity or lack of Humidity that cause some exotic woods to crack or warp.

It's the humidity. I brought my new bride here from the islands about 10 years ago and she shriveled up and turned to rubble. :( I knew I should have monitored her water consumption.

in my experiences there are 2 reasons for warpage. cutting to fast andclimate dfferences. filipino cue makers get a bad wrap bc some dont do the right thing so it is assumed all dont do the right thing.

climate wise out humidity in nj is high. i suppose if i sent a cue to las vegas it might no say perfect. i know there are sw cues here in nj that arent perfect.

from what i was told the economy is so bad certin makers will fire out cues fast for low money bc they need the cash. thats why we see fancy cues for low $$ because $200 is alot of money there. these cues dont stay straight.so this is why there is no market for their cues. not saying all but some. what leads me to believe this is the "fueds" between makers there fighting for buisness and eliminating competition. this was told to me 10 years ago and given recent events believe every word i was told

NewStroke

Seems to be a common problem. Warping shows up in unexpected ways. Have you experienced the Spare Tire or Philippines Roll?? Other Early symptoms are a house full of her relatives. BTW finally followed by the 50/50 divorce where she gets the assets and you get the Liabilities. Oh and you get to raise the kids.
