Phoenix Open - August 18-22

Harrison Leinen continues to impress. He beat Hunter Lombardo 9-5 in his Phoenix Open first event.

Next up? Fedor Gorst! Big test for young Hank the Tank.
On the stream! I reached out to Hank when he was eliminated in Yuma. I invited him to a Men's tournament in Mesa on Saturday and he came out with his dad. He sent Joven to the loser's side, then he sent me over int he next round. He's a great kid and a phenomenal player.

Watching this event, I am thinking this is another Florida Open-Mosconi in Florida. Loud crowd and plenty of viewers. Great atmosphere. Phoenix is clearly ripe for a Matchroom major. Got to figure this is dawning on Frazer and Co.

At one point, the crowd broke into big ooohhs after SVB appeared to lock up Archer with a great safety. They cheered even louder when Archer got a hit on the safety ball. Never seen that before at any pro pool event by Matchroom or Predator.

Is the tv table 4.5" corner pockets?

Cause I think on 4" pockets, Carlo smokes Bergman.

Bergman up 5-2.

Would be sick if Justin wins the whole thing and gets 20K Mosconi points. That would make him an automatic, no?

Bergman beats the reigning World Pool Champion and World #2 player 9-7.

You've never seen people cheer a good safety and then when the opponent got out of it? Huh?

Did you actually see it? If you didn’t, you probably shouldn’t comment.

I have watched every Matchroom major since 2022 and most big Predator events. I cannot recall seeing such a boisterous reaction to the sequence in question at any of those events.

I am sure it has happened at other pool events going way back. Or maybe the Mosconi. But not in the WNT era.

All the tables in there are 4.25" and they play more like 4 1/8.

Yeah it was pretty loud. I was playing around the corner when it happened. I agree with you, I've never heard a crowd that boisterous in reaction.

mitch should have closed that match way earlier, but still good win. pulled out some sick shots in that match, highlight reel stuff
They both dogged their brains out in the last game. Choke, choke and rechoke. Mitch missed a short wide open shot with five balls left, all out in the open. That one shocked me.
