At the top of this forum, there is a Photo button where members can download photos in their own "gallery." I have several thousand pictures on my old computer that I have been moving to my new computer, slowly but surely, over the past few months.

My CD drive is busted in my old computer. Shooting Arts (Hu) suggested a thumb drive to move the pictures from the old computer to the new computer, but the one I bought doesn't work in the USB slot for some reason. So I am stuck moving two pictures at a time on a 3.5 floppy disk. Picture files take up a lot of bytes.

[Is it "bite" or "byte"? Too lazy to look it up, even though I'm supposed to know] :o

The majority of pictures in the Photo galleries of this forum are of cue sticks and cases, which I know is quite popular with a lot of readers.

What is kind of cool is that you can use the SEARCH feature and find a picture of just about whatever you are looking for. If you want to see a JB custom case called the "Dragon," it's there. If you want to see an old Scruggs cue stick, there's a picture of one for you to check out. If you want to see pics of Ronnie Wiseman, he's there too. :)

At any rate, I initiate this thread for those who may not be acquainted with the Photo button up at the top, as well as its magnificant SEARCH feature. I've got only 120-some pictures loaded up there, but I aim to download quite a few more, when time allows.

So, if you're interested in seeing what Hillbilly looks like or Dee Adkins when their name is mentioned in a thread, take a stroll on up to the Photo button of this forum and do a search. I hope to have quite a menagerie of players' pics up there when I'm finished moving my pics, two at a time, from my old computer to my new computer! :)

Do you have just one drive? Or USB port? That's gotta be brutal doing that two pics at a time...

EDIT: I don't see any photo button up there...

It really does suck a big weenie! :D

When I plug in the thumb drive in the USB port of my old computer, it doesn't recognize it. I have to use my 3.5 floppy drive to move them. You should see my office here. I have five computers, and each one serves a distinct function related to my work. LOL!

To make a long story short, I work in DOS, and I'd rather fight than switch! :p

It is between CHAT and NEW buttons up at the top if this forum, underneath the advertising banners.

See, I knew there were some members who hadn't visited the wonderful Photo galleries. There are some incredibly cool pics up there. :)

Man, I wonder if it is only visible to a select few on this forum.

Look at the top of the window screen. You will see two ad banners. One is an AzBilliard ad banner, and the other one changes.

Right underneath it are buttons in this order:

User CP, Register, FAQ, Members, Calendar, vBookie, Chat, Photos, New, Search, Links, and Log Out.

Do you see it now? :confused:

You may have already checked this... but i thouht i would throw my two cents at ya....

Did you happen to check the BIOS on your old computer and make sure the USB ports are not disabled? My old PoS Computer seems to like switching them off now and again... like maybe it was the manufactuer defualt setting or somethng...

i dunno just a thought :)

You know more about PC's than me but did you click on add hardware to see if it will reconige it? Johnnyt

You have to be using the TECH TWO skin to see that control, doesn't come up in v3 skin. Or you can just bookmark this link: http://forums.azbilliards.com/gallery/index.php

Jam,

If the user is not using the Tech two format and using the AZ billiards vB 3 style on the forum, the photo button is not on the top.

So, you can go to the bottom left of the page, click on Tech two style and the photo button will appear on the top where you indicated.

Found it. I love going thru old pics, not necessarily cue pics, bot I will check it out later today.

So you are saying you don't have Windows installed on that computer? There are some DOS drivers written for USB but you would have to download and configure them to be used by DOS, and then find out from the USB drive guys how to load the device to be seen as a drive letter. I have not had a floppy in any of my PCs for years.

Hey JAM,

If you have high speed internet access, you can also use a company like SMUGMUG (www.smugmug.com) and upload them on one computer, then download them on the other. For my photos, I upload them there to have a separate backup....and the are instantly accessible from anywhere.

I think smugmug has a free subscription level. It will definitely be faster than sneakernet with a floppy.

If you keep losing those system values, it sounds like you need to change your CMOS battery.
