Thanks Jam, glad you liked the photo's, they sure do bring back some good memories for me.

Amos Bush was always a dominate player back in the mid 80's to 90 in Arkansas, his game was on the large track. Amos was State Champion seven different times, four in 8-Ball, 86, 87, 88 & 89 and three times in 9-Ball, 85, 87,& 88, and was player of the year several times.

Amos was/is well liked by everyone on the Arkansas pool scene, he unlike most had a good job, he moved to Texas in 1990 to work, Amos still plays alot down there and I hear he is going to move back to the Little Rock,Ar. area very soon!

Love these pics! I grew up playin pool in Arkansas. I remember reading about Amos Bush in the history books so it was cool putting a face to the name. It is funny seeing Al in some old pics, he still has all the same mannerisms:D I still wish Slick Williys was around! I loved that place!

Glad everyone likes the photo's, all the credit goes to Arkansas Pool Players Association (APPA) president Bob Reed, who has put the photo's together all these years.

Althought I do think some photo's were taken at the tournament, the Rack in Memphis, and at Beezers Pool Room in Russellville,Ar., where the State Championships are now held.

Greg Ridenour was also a dominate player from Missouir, that won the Arkansas State Championships in both 8-ball & 9-ball many times, he is a real likeable fellow too, but haven't seen him around for many years.

If you go to the link: www.arkansaspool.com
you can click on Hall of Champions and view all the past pool champions of Arkansas.

All these tournaments were BCA Sanctioned

Great photos David. Only one with no name. It's titled "Nice lady from the Rack". That nice lady is Ming Ng, a pretty fair country shooter herself!

Wow! didn't realize the pool scene was so big down in Little Rock I started playing a few years back down in Russellville and after touring around Arkansas mostly for school and whatnot I had begun to believe pool was practically dead in this state apparently I should have went looking in Little Rock. thanks for sharing these photos and showing Arkansas has as much pool spirit as the next state.

Very nice collection of pictures. To a guy that lives where pool suffocates it is good to know that pool can thrive somewhere !

Old Days!

Hello Lars, I've heard from more than one person that you can play, you being a National College Pool Champ, it must have felt good winning that tournament.

Your dad Greg and I go way back to our teenage years, me and my buddy's would chip in on gas and drive the 100 miles to Little Rock from my home town of Warren,Ar. to bowl, my buddy's bowled and I hung out around the pool tables, where Greg and I had many battles, I was only 16, but remember it well.

That was the closest bowling alley for 100 miles of Warren,Ar., and still is as far as I know!
