Pics from the ICCS Show

You can guess whose display this is, with all the skulls and purpleheart. The cue just to the right of center is Thomas Wayne's famed 'Dem Bones' award winning cue. Those Edwin Reyes cues are bad to the bone. He's going to kill me for saying this, but in real life, Jimbo is a very, very nice guy and a rock solid cue collector with a keen respect for craftsmanship. He and Will Prout made me feel quite welcome and at home in my first show. I would like to thank them for the hospitality.

Jim does have some great cues!

He didn't offer to play you some cheap 1 pocket did he?

Leavin the light on for ya Jim!

Rep points headed your way Chris, GREAT THREAD!

Jimbo has a sweet collection of unique designs. Cant wait for him to return to hear about his adventures at the show.

Chris -

Did you get a photo of the Tads?

Damn those cues are awesome.

I know alot of cuemakers dont want the pics to get out.

Ken

Ken,

Yes, I have a good pic of the Tad's . I'll post them later because I know the collectors wouldn't mind at all. I'll also post a pic of Ken Kerner's fine collection.

Please be careful not to say too many nice things about Jimbo. We really don't want to upset him too much.

And thanks for giving me a line on his one pocket game. Now I'll make sure it's anything but one pocket!

Too bad he's banned.

chris, once again a great job. did any of the cuemakers have a cue they wanted in that final display or were they all from personal collections?

Guy,

The cue makers selected a cue for themselves (most likely their entry) and the collectors selected one from their collection. Some of the cues were being delivered and were already owned by these collectors.

The collectors here represented a big chunk of the high end cue market. It was nice to see the international participation of the group.

There was something very important presented that I thought offered an opportunity to grow the hobby considerably. The light was there right before us - but that is for another thread, I'm sure.

I wanna see how many of these I can identify:

Left to right:
Arthur cue
Ginacue
Another Gina (?)
McDaniel (?)
Palmer
Black
Bender
TAD
Manzino
(the purpleheart one is throwing me for a loop - Bill Schick??)
Southwest
Richard Chudy
Pfd
McWorter
dunno
dunno
And I'm not sure about this ebony cue but it has all the dimensions of a Manzino.

...after that, they get a little too small for me to tell. Am I right on some of these?

And by the way Christ, thanks for the pics!! They're great. And it really gives the rest of us a chance to get a glimpse of an incredible event and view some remarkable cues that we may never have seen otherwise.

Number three......Gina
Number four........Barry Szam
Number ten....The purpleheart one is Bruce at AE Cues

Those I know for sure.....plus I believe the rest your right.....but not positive.

OK, here are the Tad's. These collectors are super nice guys from Japan.

Kiyoharu Kagomiya is actually a journalist for a Japanese magazine "Kickshot".

These Tad's are the older ones. It looked like hand inlay work to me:

Here's the other side of the Grand Collection and the Samsara Cue. Like I said, it was a spectacular cue.

Here is Ken's collection. This crappy photo does these cues no justice. He has some serious hardware here, both historic and artsy. The display stands need a backdrop for the cues to stand out better. Maybe we can make that suggestion to Bill or just bring our own. The linens were also all yellow which casts a haze.

i believe that may be the case. victor stein once mentioned that he either saw at tad's shop or watched tad inlay, and tad had an exacto blade amongst other things.

I don't have permission to publish this, but I'm going to go ahead since Dave's posting here. These cues are Barenbrugge's. The photo cannot capture the technical perfection Dave has achieved in both execution and design. It's hard for me to believe that he's only been building cues for 8 years. He makes his own parts and was trained by Dennis Dieckman.

I like the way the cues have a certain flow to them, a grand majesty like a fireworks show. I'm thinking hard about one myself...

Palmer Collection At ICCS Stroud Show

Thank you, Will! My pics of your cues came out badly - I must have been trembling at their beauty. Next time I'm bringing a tripod.

For those who might not know it, Will is one of the premier collectors in the world. I am glad the group voted you as the Chairman to represent us and to present the final prizes at the dinner.

Some of the posters here, Kener Kerner for example, have tremendous collections. I have always been enthused by the history and craftsmanship of fine cues, but the show helped to elevate my awareness of cues as a canvas for the expression of fine art.

I have a few ideas - maybe I'll put them to the test!

Thanks again, Will!

Chris

Thanks for the kind words, Chris. For all who were not at the show, let me be perfectly clear:

The Palmer Collection as displayed by Chris was WORLD CLASS. He was the benchmark for all at the show (both cuemakers and collectors) in his explanations of his cues, his handouts, etc. It was a genuine pleasure to meet you and get a chance to "see you in action".

Everyone on AZ knows how knowledgeable and helpful you are at every turn, now the rest of the world is finding out.

I look forward to the next time we meet.

Take care,

Will

Hi Chris,
I appreciate the nice words... It was nice meeting you and seeing your amazing Palmers...
Here is a little clearer picture I received...
Best,
Ken Kerner
