Police searched for man in Georgia

OCEAN SPRINGS — Ocean Springs police have confirmed that a person of interest in the Nov. 12 killing of Michael Surber was using an assumed name when he was seen with the victim just days before his body was found.
“But we still need the public to come forward and identify this person,” Ocean Springs Police Lt. John Flowers said. “This guy seems to associate himself with barrooms and billiard halls. He seems to leave without paying bar tabs. He tends to do that everywhere he goes.”
The man was identifying himself as Jericho Cooper when he was seen leaving Skeeter’s Billiards in Gulfport with Surber on Nov. 10. Police said the man was the last person seen with Surber before his body was discovered at his Linda Drive home on Nov. 12.
Flowers said investigators tracked down the real Jericho Cooper in Georgia and determined that he’d been the victim of identity theft. Police investigators later learned that the man they’re searching for had been in a club in Villa Rica, Ga., the week prior to Surber’s death. While in Villa Rica, Flowers said, the man apparently skipped out on a bar tab once again.
“Now we know he was in Villa Rica the weekend before the murder, and he was in Richland the weekend after the murder — as late as that Sunday,” Flowers said. “We still want him for questioning at this point.”
The man police are looking for is white and in his late-40s to mid-50s, between 5 feet, 8 inches, and 6 feet tall and from 175 pounds to 185 pounds. He has dirty blonde hair pulled back in a ponytail and a receding hairline. He was last seen in the Richland area near Jackson wearing a blue dress shirt and dress slacks.
Surber’s friends at Skeeter’s became suspicious after his vehicle sat at the business for two days, though he was nowhere to be found. When he failed to show up for a billiards game he’d planned to play in, his friends went to his home to check on him. They looked through a window and saw Surber’s motionless body inside.
Surber’s death was ruled a homicide based on autopsy results, which have not yet been released because of the ongoing investigation.
Anyone with information should call the Ocean Springs Police Department at 875-2211.
I really didn't think I could get any more frustrated, I was wrong.
If you know anyone in this area could you show your friends this guys picture.
thank you
and many hugs
