Curious why you only built the jig to cut veneers for three points?

I think if the veneers in the pic would have been centered it would have been enough for six points. The first one looks a little to small because the veneers weren't centered or what ever. Each miter is one point. I think you band saw them between each miter, ending up with enough for six. I could be wrong...usually am.

Is that some wide two sided tape of some kind you use to keep it from moving while cutting. Do you make your folds with it still on there, then remove it after the veneers are glued up? Where do you get it?

Lee is using a vacuum to hold the veneers flat to the fixture. A previous picture shows the vacuum hose. Double sided tape is not needed. I would guess by that setup once you set your blade to the fixture then you should not have to re-adjust the blade even if you are cutting thinner or thicker veneers. That is a great idea if I do say so myself.

Jim.

If your cutting 6 or 8 points you can always do 2 runs just adust the size of the veneers and the vacume rubber that holds them to do 3 at one time or 4 at one time there mant differant possiblities by far this is the cleanest and and most efficient way to do point or box veneers

look close again at post #7 ..............each piece is one point....

Immaterial. the way the grooves are spaced on the jig, one of the V-cut sides is to narrow to form the folded veneers for the sixth point. This jig is fine for up to a five point cue but not six.

You are correct, but it would be very simple to make one more cut on the widest piece for the miter to get to number six.

The picture does show only five usable point veneers.

What I see is pictured (see post #7 with the pencil lines) IMO is venners for 5-1/2 points. But your suggestion is correct. Do one more straight cut on the right side (mirroring the left side) to get one more half for a total of 6. The only trouble is that the jig (see post #2) does not have the extra v-groove on the right side.

Lee,
Couldn't you add another v-groove in the jig just like the left? (see jig in post #2) Then both ends would have an equal, narrow- straight strip of waste. :smile
