Pinned slate on GC III

Began disassembly of my table in prep for refinish. I discovered the slate is pinned, I seem to recall reading here that was typical of the I and II and discontinued on the III. Correct? Could I have leftover II slate?

The tail end of the 2's went over into the 3's. If you have the casting bolt insert in the end of the rails to mount the pocket castings...then you have a true 3, and that didn't come with pinned slates. With your slates being pinned, they're brunstone, and left over from the 2's.

Thanks all.
Glen, The casting bolt insert is in end of rail, however not like this:

mine threads into an angled piece of flat iron with threads cut, it is about 1 1/2" wide and an 1/8 thick. It bends around rail end, two bolts on top one on bottom secure it.
Don't believe it's brunstone. It is 1 1/16th" thick pinned , I was told when it was installed (10 yrs. ago, I bought it used) it was Italian slate.

Poking around the site (via search) for last hour leads me to believe I may have CG II rails and castings (larger counters also) with III rosewood aprons. Meatal name plate and tag on stretcher say III. Glen, maybe a 2.5?

Having mismatched parts is not uncommon. If it's labeled a III just go with it.

Don't know whose table this is but the rail work looks funky.

Yep, and the pocket shelves have a slope to them in the pockets, the rail skirts bolt on instead of hinging in the extruded aluminum and use a flat bar clamp in the corners of the skirts.

Early 3's only had the skirts, stretcher, slate frame, and leg pedestals of a 3, the top rails and pocket castings were from the 2's, and yes, that's brunstone with a 1" wood backing, the 3's slates used a 3/4" wood backing. You have a GC2 1/2 sir.

Begging your pardon but I do not find such a model (GC 2.5) listed as an official Bwick product. :nanner:

Thanks again Glen, you are correct the pocket shelves have a slope to them and rail skirts bolt. However the slate backing is 3/4" (poplar my guess) and the slate is a hair over 1" maybe 1/32", I thought the brunstone was much thicker. Anyway, thanks again I appreciate and value your opinion.

Glen,
Upon closer inspection this morning (it was late last night when I checked)I put a tri square on pocket shelf, no slope as I originally thought. Almost perfect 90.
