The first and only Professional pool and cuesports organization that will be working hand-in-hand with the Games and Amusements Board of the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines in the implementation of Presidential Decree 871 governing professional cue sports.

What the BSCP and company failed to realize is that the very people that they accuse of taking a 40% cut (managers), are the ones responsible that the careers of talented pool players took off and started successful lives from their then hopeless situation. without these managers, these pool players would die with their eyes wide open. and the BSCP for more than 2 decades had done nothing about them. in short, the managers took care of the business or job which the BSCP should had been doing. the managers had provided a regular income for these players, which the BSCP simply neglected them.

it's common sense that these players would take allegiance to those people who made a difference to their lives rather than ally with someone who is just there for the cake.

Allow me to inform you of our upcoming events. Upcoming will be City presented and sponsored tournaments, the Quezon City Open, the Makati Open, Dumaguete Open and the Davao City Open. Currently, too, we're working on the Philippine Professional Billiard(Pool) League which will be composed of 7-10 commercial teams composed of 8 players each.

Each team will play once a week in a match that'll last for 2 hours and televised live on national TV. A season will run for 3 months and we already have 2 seasons on our drawing board. The first season will be an All-Filipino affair but we are contemplating on infusing foreign players, foreign teams and foreign sponsors into the second season, This idea was fortified by positive communication recieved from 2 high-level US professional players who expressed their support and encouragement in our time of turmoil.

The Philippine Ranking Tour is on-going and more stops were added.

It may be a good time to open communications with us and cultivate a healthy relationship while we are still on the ground floor of this very exciting endeavor.

We see this eventually on a worldwide stage, what do you foresee?

You're so right Jay! What we, the BMPAP, did was just to straighten things up. The Philippines has a Government Agency that handles all Professional Sports here. We availed of such so in essence we just fixed Philippine Pool 's organizational structure.

The Billiard and Snooker Congress of the Philippines (BSCP) is a National Sport Association (NSA) that is affiliated with the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC). This makes them the National Amateur Association.

The Billiard Managers and Players Association of the Philippines (BMPAP) is a Professional Pool Organization under the Office of the President's Games and Amusements Board. BMPAP is Philippine Pool's Professional Pool Organization. Bugsy Promotions, Puyat Sports, Negros Billiards Stable, Matchroom Sports and RAYA Sports and Events all have to apply for permits as Promoters to hold Professional (play-for-pay) Pool events here in the Philippines.

All invitations, to foreign play-for-pay Pool events, directed at Filipino Professional Pool players are required to be coursed through the BMPAP for screening and approval. This in turn bestows upon the invited player all the benefits and protection that the Philippine Government can offer its citizen in a timely manner.

Sure we, BMPAP and BSCP, can complement each other. The BSCP can focus on doing their job of developing and implementing the grassroot programs and we, BMPAP, will be more than willing to assist them if they so request.

After the successful completion of 2 legs of a minor yearlong event, the 2008 Bugsy Promotions' Search for Pool Idol, where we had 82 and 54 ranked-third-tier and below participants. We, the BMPAP, are proud to announce our upcoming first major tournament to be held at the brand new Trinoma Mall in Quezon City on March 17-19, 2008. The BMPAP Quezon City Open will be offering a top prize of US$10,000.00 to the champion with cash prizes all the way down to the 17th-32nd spot. This is a 32-man Main draw where the top 16 spots will be awarded to top players like Efren Reyes, Django Bustamante, Ronnie Alcano, Alex Pagulayan, Dennis Orcullo, Roberto Gomez, Lee Van Corteza, Gandy Valle, Rodolfo Luat, Carlo Biado, Joven Bustamante, Jharome Pena, Warren kiamco, Ramil Gallego, Wu Cia Ching of Taiwan and Husashi? Takano of Japan. Four of the other 16 spots will be populated through qualifiers from Tuguegarao City (Luzon-Northern Philippines), Cebu and Dumaguete (Visayas-Central Philippines) and Davao City (Mindanao-Southern Philippines). The 12 remaining spots will be filled through 3 Qualifying Tournaments that'll be held on March 14-16 in th Puyat Billiard and Bowling Center in Cubao, Quezon City. The top 4 finishers of each Qualifying Tournament will gain spots in the Main Tournament. Qualifying Tournament entry fee???? 500 Pesos (approx. US$12.50)!!!

Genieva Cruz, a top Filipina Singer, is going to sing the National Anthem for us to start the festivities. This is a joint project of the Quezon City Government, San Miguel Corporation and the BMPAP. Come join the fun!!

I also know, and am very disappointed with the fact that the 8ball qualifier for the world 8 ball championship was a kind of closed qualification where none of the BMPAP players could participate.

BUT, you now have the chance to reach out a hand and maybe end the war. I suggest that now is the time to show greatness, and invite also e.g. De Luna, Gabica, Manalo - players who are just as strong as many of the above.

Cut down on the qualifiers to compensate for the added invited players, and show by this gesture that you want the best players to play in the Philipines and for the Philipines, independent of the politics behind. Perhaps such a gesture from yours / BMPAP's side can contribute to end the conflict.

I do understand and appreciate the comment. However, the BMPAP is a professional organization thus all members, whether they be players or managers or pool equipment manufacturers/suppliers etc, still need to apply for membership and go through an approval process.

Wouldn't you think that it, inviting Gabica and de Luna, is going to be unfair to all the other players who stayed steadfast during the turmoil if we automatically invite Gabica and de Luna? These 2 players, Gabica and de Lina, jumped the fence to pull a fast one on all the other players. They were enticed with and gave in to the promise of getting priority selection in all BSCP/RAYA/PBDF events, which is what exactly happened in the Guinness Taipei leg and the World 8-Ball Qualifiers. You should have seen the players in the Protest Rally against the No-Qualifying Tournament selection of Gabica, de Luna and Manalo for the Guinness Tour Philippine representation. Even Efren, with his acheing back, was there to show unity.

Marlon Manalo won't have a problem when he finally applies for membership. I admire the loyalty that he's displayed all through the turmoil and I don't hear of any ill-will towards him among the players.
Soon he will be seen in BMPAP produced and sanctioned tournaments as he, Manalo, has sent his feelers.

I understand. Had they, Gabica and de Luna, not let their greed allow them to abandon us then they wouldn't have caused the prolonging of the conflict nor their collegues feeling betrayed by them. Great and possibly great players abound here in the Philippines and almost all of them need the organization's guidance and assistance. Gabica and de Luna just kicked themselves to the very end of the line. I'm sorry but I, personally, can't sacrifice the many for the few.

There shouldn't be any cause for conflict now between BMPAP and BSCP now that the Philippine Government has drawn the line defining each organizations responsibilities.

I wouldn't count out the WPC not happening in the Philippines this year just yet Jay. If there's a person/persons who can organize/fund this event, it will be the Puyat bros. Add Perry Mariano and Jonathan Sy to the mix, they can match or even surpass the grandeur that Raya Sports gave to this event. They don't have to beg, borrow or steal from the private sectors and or take from the gov't coffers. They can back this event up with their own pockets...

Technically, the BSCP is a National Sport Association under the Philippine Olympic Commission so they are suppose to develop and implement grassroot programs for the Philippines. They are not classified as an Event Promoter which can get permits to produce Play-for-pay tournaments. They can however do Amateur Tournaments offering trophies and medals to the top finishers.

Jay, the WPC wasn't brought to Manila by the BSCP but rather by Raya Sports and Events. It just happened that Yen, who is the President of RAYA Sports and Events, is also the Chairman of BSCP. Thus he can use the BSCP title to approach, at an advantage, government agencies and corporations. From what I found out, WPC Manila event got GAB permits for their 2006 event. Should the promoters acquire the proper Philippine Government permits for WPC 2008, if done here, then there's no reason for the BMPAP to not support it.

Some corrections after last night's meeting and development.

The event title now is:
The San Miguel Corporation Quezon City 9-Ball Championship
and the Qualifier Tournament entry fee has been lowered from
500 Pesos (US$11.26) to 300 Pesos (US$6.76) per qualifying event.

Further development! The Qualifiers' venue has been upgraded to a centrally located and bigger classier mall. The 3 Qualifying Tournaments, top 4 finishers of each Qualifier gain slots in the Main Tournament, will be held at the Paeng's Bowling and Billiard Center of the Robinson's Galleria Mall located at the corner of Ortigas Avenue and EDSA.
