Thought I should start a new thread. These came in the mail today. If you didn’t reaD the other thread they are made to lift your glasses up higher like billiard glasses but they only cost 6.99.
I got them today and played for about 2 hours and what an amazing difference. Seeing ball And pocket on long shots that is crystal clear is amazing. It didn’t take long at all for me to forget it was on.
There’s always a bad side to everything and for this is things are a bit blurry standing up. you have to learn to look down with your chin on your chest. I have a bit of a headache after 2 hours of play but I’m not sure it’s that or the nasty head cold I have coming on. Definitely worth the $7 I paid for them . It does make me want to get a real pair of billiard glasses to give them a try. I play every day so we will see if that changes after a few days of play.

I did something similar when I first needed glasses to play - bought a cheap pair of reading glasses, removed the "temples" (the things that go over your ears) and reattached them upside down so the parts of the lenses that hung down below the temples now rose up above them. Worked fine, and I didn't even need the nose pads.

Eventually got contacts for pool - much better than glasses.

I use billiards glasses, over size. They are made so the center of vision is raised. I also bought these plastic pieces. I keep a set in my case.

How do they stay in place? They were designed for sitting at a computer. I see myself constantly adjusting these plastic pieces when playing pool.

I bought a pair to try out even though I am very happy with my billiard glasses from billiard-eyeglasses.com
these are not from curran but from canada
several hundreds of dollars cheaper than curran and great quality
I found the plastic device very flimsy, although it did raise the optical center of my normal frame glasses

I've tried upside down with a strap (that's what she said before she slammed the door) and that worked except for glasses don't work. (distortion etc...) Anyway, glasses can be propped with a hook from a head band or new to me, raised via leverage from the back of the ear things. Either way can be fashioned easily with minimal headgear and expense.
And velcro...

I would love to do contacts.. I tried them twice. They just aren’t for me. Constantly feel like I have to mess with them. It’s like a having a hobbie you never wanted lol

It sits snuggly on my nose . Never had to adjust it one time in 2 hours of play.
You must have single vision lenses....don't see how this would work with progressives .

no sir. Progressives. That’s why when standing up you have to learn to keep your head slightly tilted down when looking at the table but when you drop into the shot it’s perfect and crystal clear.

Eventually I may buy billiard glasses.

You get them specifically for distance only, not close up.
Your eye Doc will know.
The distance from your eyes to your bridge hand is actually covered by distance only contacts.
You do need readers for close up such as looking at your phone.
Sort of like getting new lenses after cataract surgery in which case you have a choice for distance or
close up permanent new lenses.
Can't wait for my cataracts to get to a point where the cataract surgery is covered by medical insurance.

I started wearing reading glasses 17 years ago. Have worn bifocals for the last 10 years or so. When I get ready to play pool I take them off and lay them aside and just play. When I’m down on the shot I can’t even tell that my shaft has a ferrule on it.

One day a guy ask me how can you play with your ferrule being so dirty. I said I can’t see it I have no idea what it looks like.

I used to play without glasses. I’d take them off when playing. My right eye was bad but my left eye was good! Then just left everything in your 40s things go south and in a hurry. Now if I have my glasses off I can’t even make out the numbers on the ball So I had to start wearing glasses.
