played a whole team of 6s

Don't play in hadicap leagues

Why do people play in handicap leagues and then complain about the sandbagging ????? It is human nature that some people WILL cheat.

Then it is said that there is no other league in the area...

START ONE

Start your own money league & I highly recommend that you go with BCA sanctioning. If you don't have the minimum 30 players in the beginning, don't worry - word will spread that everyone gets money at the end of the season and you will grow.

It isn't rocket science - you need someone trustworthy to do the stats & be responsible for the money. Round Robin matches - one on one - one game against each opponent - end of sandbagging problem :)

really???

I can't believe that you even on here bellyaching around... You said it yourself, you use to "sandbagg"... I know guys who can't run a rack or know the first thing about playing safe who are 5's and 6's because they had a good night or their opponent was having a bad one. Yeh ur a 6 so it makes it a hard race against any lower handicap but to shut the whole Southern Ohio APA league down bc of it is bullcrap. And if you really want action on based on your APA handicap don't wolf too loud because someone might take you up on it. I'd love to play and even better I know a 7 (we're all from the southern ohio apa) who will play ya and take ur odds .. APA is a joke its for ppl who are too scared of real competition or like stated previously its just a way to mingle with friends and family.. Join the BCA pal or suck ur thumb

Apa

I didn't see any 4's that played like 6's, from what I seen, most of the 6's didn't play all that well. You had a few strong 4's but most would have been weak 5's. I think the biggest problem with playing weak players is shortening the race. If a 6 and 4 play, the race is 5 to 3, which means you have to win 5 to 2, very difficult. If the race were 6 to 4 it would make it a lot fairer. But APA is favorable to the weaker player.

I play all out and don't care what other players do. If I play like I am suppose to I will beat them anyway.

A note about the Diamond Tables; the first 2 days they played like crap, the balls jumped off the rails and was super fast. It reminded me of a pinball machine. By Sunday, they started playing like a pool table. Bad Boys set the tables up and does a great job. But, they need to set the tables up a couple days before the tournament starts. So the table can adjust to the climate conditions. I know that probably won't happen, but it would be nice to play on good equipment from day one.

4's run out once in a great while - it happens.

This was my thought too. It reminded me of when I had first started playing pool seriously back in the late 80's. I have no idea what these APA levels are but at that time I was a C class player in every way shape and form. One day I was in the pool hall and this guy asks me to play a race to 5 or whatever for however much it was. Probably 5 bucks or something, I really don't remember. Anyway, this guy had a reputation for being a hot head. So, he gives me the break, I break the first rack and run out the whole rack. My first ever break and run in 9-ball. When I made the 9 I threw my arms up in victory. I wasn't taunting him, of course, I was just happier than a pig in sh!t that I had run my first rack. He got so pissed off that he broke his cue down and walked out grumbling something under his breath. Had he stayed he could have taken my money, and he knew me well enough that he had to have known that me running a rack was a fluke and wouldn't happen again in that set.

When I read this guys story about the 4 running out on him it made me think of that day.

So let me get this straight.

You are am admitted sandbagger and now that you lost, you can only assume that the other team is sandbagging as well.

Sounds to me like you dumped for so long that when the chips were down, you just couldn't bring your game. I would guess (without knowing the situatuation - it is only a guess) is that the other team just played well and that because they beat you, you must only assume that they were sandbagging as well.

I have this theory - most of the few people who say they sandbag, either really arent ready to move up and therefor say they sandbag or just say they sandbag as an excuse for losing.

Either way, you seem like a pretty poor sport and I am really glad I don't play in your area or agianst someone like you.

man you're quick to throw out the BS flag aren't you.

the guy said he was a former sand bagger. if he plays well enough to sandbag i'm sure he knows how to judge how well people play. the guy's not BS'ing. if he says the team was underrated then they probably were. i dont see why that's so hard to believe the guy knows how to tell when people are playing above what they're rated.

Lol!

:rotflmao::rolleyes: C'mon This coming from the guy who went down to city last year as a 3, raised yourself to a 4 at the door, Then got raised to a 5 during city, and to a 6 in vegas? Im pretty sure i didnt hear any complaints then... And besides apa aint the only league in this area Anymore harris does BCA out of his place. But you might wanna bring some pepto bismol with you after hearing how bad 1 B&R got to you, Because you'll be seeing alot more of those. :D

Weird, another person that thinks they play good complaining about the APA in South Western Ohio. :)

When will everyone realize that the only people that play in that league are the ones that get their kicks out of dumping all year to win a $500 trip to Vegas to play against other sandbaggers and weak competition. The vast majority of the decent players (5's and 6's and some 7's) in the SW Ohio APA league have no clue how to play good pool.

If you want to play in a real league with good players, either make the short drive down to Richard Harris' room that has BCA leagues or go toward Dayton for BCA and VNEA. No B.S. sandbagging, just runouts!:D

+1.

You sound like a whinner to me.

Is there sandbagging in league pool? Yes, everytime.

Now you can either whine and cry or or learn how to win.

I keep thinking the people who say they never sandbag and have actually won in handicaped pool are like the people who say they have never masterbated....both are liars.

I suppose it depends on what level of "won" you're indicating.

Our APA team "won" our league session, including the playoffs, two sessions ago. We "won" our state-tournament qualifying tournament thatsession as well. We will be playing in that state tournament (the vegas qualifier) this coming Saturday.

We don't sandbag. I'm not lying. General consensus around our league is that there really isn't any sandbagging to speak of in our area, but that there is in other parts of the state, the ones we are likely to meet up with next week.

We might get beat at states, and it might be by a team that sandbagged.
And maybe we might beat a team of sandbaggers, too. We'll know in 6 days.

wah

this coming from a guy who sandbagged to get to vegas dude ur garbage just like a few said come on down to harris pool room and there will be no sandbagging there u might even get the 7 ball

That's nothing, I once played a team of 7s! Fortunately for my team, they were all off their games that day. Phew!

tired of baby's

Can't we just play pool? When you win your happy when you lose someone is cheating. I have played in southern ohio apa since I was 18. There has always been sandbagging some people just do it better than others. But if your a true pool player a challenge is what you love. So a 3 that shoots like a six is just another reason to beat them. To the guy who said there are not many good six's in the southern ohio apa, come on man are you true three and cant see talent? I agree with the comments apa is for friends and family and bca is probably for the more talented players, or the ones who think they are better than what they are but who can really judge what a true 3, 4, 5, or 6 is? I am a four and I can run out at times and I have broke and run, some say i play strong other's not so much. I know i make alot of stupid decisions and to play as a 5 or a 6 would be tough. But i also know that if a three would beat me now or as a 5 or a 6 i would accept the challenge any day because that is what makes this game fun. I know 6's who dont care who they play because they are going to win. That is a pool player and that is what it is all about. So if you don't like to get beat by 3's and 4's practice a little more, come in with a little more confidence and don't give them a chance to win.

I dont believe it.

Good story though..

Atleast. With no discretion. B&R 1st rack of the match on me. Im a 6 He is a 4. I almost hurled. I couldn't gain my composure back. And I see now that was the whole point. I know you all hate apa but its all I have in my area. And with a fair(rules wise) team we cant win. So I am OVER the whole thing. I think APA in (this is gonna cause drama) Southern Ohio Should all together be shut down until they can prove they are honest. This is coming from a former sand bagger who didnt realize what was taking place. I dont think any of those guys could play for real. I know this. As angry as I am at these cheaters, I would Give ODDS to all of them. I hope one is on this forum. Play Honest or F%#@ off from pool, you dont deserve to play this great game.

Who agrees?
He may or may not be a sand bagger, but I wouldn't call him one just because he broke & ran a rack. It is not beyond the ability of a 4 with a good layout to run a rack.

I don't really care if you believe me or not. You have no reason to believe me, not knowing me at all. Of course, you have no reason to assume that I'm lying, either. I have my own integrity, and I'm quite comfortable with it. Which is, of course, why I don't sandbag. Believe it, or not.

This is exactly why I tire of these threads. People who don't even know me assume that I am willing to cheat, because everybody does it.

That is bullstuff. I'm here to tell you everyone does not necessarily cheat. Whether you believe me, or not.

Of course, my team might get our collective butts handed to us next Saturday, and it could be by people who do indeed cheat. That is their problem, not mine. I can look in the mirror with no issue, than you very much.

So tell me, Ken4fun, do you cheat when you play? Since everybody does it? You're quite quick to judge me, sight unseen.

Where are you?

Where is the guy that started this thread?

There is a few 6's that plays at the Cue Club (Richard Harris' place) bring your cue and some green. If you beat all the 6's, there may be a few 7's you can play to show us your true skill level.

LOL...yeah, Ken4fun has stated numerous times that he is a big-time sandbagger and doesn't understand why anyone wouldn't sandbag...lol.

Actually, I was an APA 7 for many years and know pretty much every decent player in the area. Since you are still an APA 4, I'll assume YOU are the one who doesn't know what a good player is.

Apa

This is my first session in any league and all we have in my area is APA. I joined like most people for a night out, to meet people and friendly competition. Before joining the team I was playing my team captain in a race using handicap to get used to the format. In 9 ball my captain is a 6 and we just guessed that I would be a 4. I won the first 3 races and so we decided to play me as a 5 and I only won 1 of 3. So we figured I would probably be a solid 4. Well the first 2 weeks I was nervous and shot terrible so they dropped me to a 2. The third week something clicked in my head and I wasn't nervous and shot my normal game. I beat an established 4 19-13. I definitely didn't sandbag at all but it definitely looked like I did. I felt bad and I didn't want him to think I was a sandbagger so I went and explained the situation to him. He thanked me for talking to him after because he has been in the league a long time and seen plenty of sandbagging. He told me not to feel bad because it takes time to really establish a true rank. The reason I am posting is because had I not talked to him he could be on here complaining about the same thing.

I guess the point is like other people are saying people are what they are. Some people sandbag and some people are just very inconsistent. If you are really that worried about sandbagging and are interested in more than a social league find a league without handicap and play there.
