I believe that Ralf Souquet will be picked as Player of the Year.

Immonen's sustained excellence outdistances Souquet, who defnitely had a great year. I'll add that I do not think Eurotour or Mosconi Cup results should be considered anymore than US regional tour results should count. All I care about is whose star shone brightest in the events having the deepest, internationally balanced, fields. I'll also add that I feel Bustamante's win of the DCC Master of the Table is on a par with winning a major title, and given his second place finish in the World 14.1 Championships, I'd say he had a very impressive year.

i have to go with mika. he's finished 1st in 5 of the last 6 events he's competed in:

us open (1st)
ipt pro-am event (1st)
asian 10-ball championships in korea (2nd)
all japan championship (1st)
team world vs. team Philippines (1st)
mosconi cup (1st and MVP)

plus he's had strong finishes throughout the year - highlights being:

4th turning stone
4th upa pro players championship
2nd upa desert shootout
2nd world pool masters
5th world 10-ball

he's been really consistent all year and has been on a tear since the us open. (but, okay, i'm a little bias)

Django also finished runner-up in the Predator International 10-ball Championship.

I believe that Eurotour's should be considered more than a regional US tour.

Eurotour's have 250 players on every tournament. All the best players in Europe compete on these 7 yearly tournaments all over Europe, and there are normally players from 20-30 countries there. The tournaments are open for everyone, and in the past Johnny Archer, Francisco Bustamante and Ismael Paez have won Eurotours.

Don't players of the year come from the most points earned during the year?? Whose points are we using this year?

My view is that neither should be considered. Eurotour events, though having occasional and very minimal participation of Americans and Asians, Eurotour events, though difficult to win, are not internationally diverse enough to deserve any consideration at all.

How one performs in events where when America, Asia and Europe have substantial representation is a far more reasonable measure if you want to compare the stars of all nations.

Where can I see previous winners of the Player of the Year plum? Who gives them out anyway?
