Players Attempting to Unionize?

That is because they aren't stupid enough to do it because they would lose fans, not because they couldn't.
Actually, they couldn't for the 2004-05 season, because it was a lockout, not a strike. The owners (of any business) can't lockout workers from a job for being collectively represented and then hire other replacement workers to do the same job. That's illegal. It's different if it's a strike where the workers are refusing to work, as with the 1981 NFL strike (where replacement players were used for games that counted) and the 1994 MLB strike (where replacement players were signed and played some exhibition games during 1995 spring training, but a new deal with the players union was struck before the regular season).

I agree with the players. they should be getting paid more. However I also agrew with the fact that the industry needs to be making more money before the players are going to get paid decently for there high level of skill that they have. that would probably require a big public acceptance of the sport like baseball football etc.

Other Players if serious about making change to Pool. Need do more then talk, it will take work, and more work.

Talk accomplishes less then work.😃
here is the best joke of the day: first meeting of the UNION, alright guys we have to WORK HARD and you all have to pitch in $1000.00 , all the sudden SHAW IS STANDING THERE ALONE!!! AHHAAHHAHHAHHA

TFT

i am totally joking, even though it may be true!!

Where’s Kevin Trudeau when you need him?

Pool events happen in hotels. A former US president operates a luxury brand of internationally chained hotels. Instead of a backer how about a home hotel.

An investor with a more established business record than KT would be a step up.

The pool players should start a culture club. A group of internationally and potentially government sponsored athletes forming a sharing/coalition/network would have to simplify a lot.

If you had to ask anyone what the values of a pro pool player are its not clear to a general audience.

The benefits of the forum is the sharing of ideas.

Whats your best pitch?

A new game format? Players need a home base to launch group ideas from.

He is the deal, I not a Professional Pool Player, if the Pros are unhappy let those crying, work on fixing.

I have zero to gain, so let’s say not my problem.

This subject has been neath to death, nothing changes, except the rich people making killing off Pool like League Owners, Promoters, Event Coordinator’s, get richer.

You share the same burden as the investors for pro pool. Taking a chance.

Pros planning a contingency for the next COVID or other external force to shutdown their industry down is worth having meetings for.

The performance of US pros could be at an all time low based on event finishers. Maybe the Euros will capitalize on it long term.

I share nothing, and the Professional Player shared non of his fortune with me.

If you feel guilty Pool is in 💩🏠 in USA.

No one is stopping you personally to provide your knowledge, and wisdom.

My bet is you will fail, or quit from frustration.

If the people this would directly effect for better don’t care, only talk, do no work to bring change. Don’t waist your time on something you get no return on.

So, with all this talk of the top men players not making a respectable living and something needing to be done, I did an internet search of the estimated net worth of two of the top female players. The two I looked up, had an estimated net worth of 2-5 million for one, and 12 million for the other, and they didn't get that by marrying some rich guy. Just maybe, the men's income situation has more to do with other things than just prize money and sponsorships. From the outside looking in, it seems as though some of the top women players could teach the men a thing or two on how to be successful.
Also, still $.25 a game at this bar I frequent by our summer condo. Not the greatest table, but I have had a lot of great times at that bar playing on that table.

Who is the top female player worth 12 million ?
Did she make that playing pool?
Is any pool player anywhere worth 12 million, I doubt it.

Kelly Fisher, I was shocked at that figure, but who knows where it really came from. Looks as though the boys have some catching up to do. I only looked up two, but I'm sure there are more. Did not look up Jeanette Lee this time, but if I remember her family's worth was estimated about 6 mil, a lot of that might be family income. It's a simple search really, but as to the accuracy of what's reported, who really knows. One thing for certain is when you search the estimated net worth of a few of the top men, it is substantially less. All these clips, and comments on gambling and side betting by the men could very well have something to do with that.

I think SVB in that recent interview said he has earned total 2 mill. These recent tournament paying out $25,000 or so.

In perspective a player would have to win like 10 of them to make what many CEOs make in any given year and that's before expenses and taxes.

Kind of hard to do and you better not get sick or injured or your career in over if playing is your only income.

Any player with any net worth to speak of it would have to come from investments and endorsements.

I remember some years ago reading of pro athletes annual earnings. Arnold Palmer who had not played golf in years was still in the top 10 earners.

In an individual sport, not a team sport where a player has a contract, the big money doesn't come from prize money.
