The [Mercer County Prosecutor's Office] alleged Preto was selling a lot more than billiards from the Players Club pool hall in Ewing, which he owned. In multiple raids, investigators seized more than 150 handguns, rifles, shotguns and assault weapons, an estimated 10,000 rounds of ammunition, quantities of marijuana, cocaine and other drugs, drug packaging materials and gambling machines.
From the pool hall, Preto allegedly dealt drugs and dabbled in prostitution. At his real estate title search company in Hamilton, Community Search and Abstract, officers found a duffel bag containing 126 pre-packaged grams of cocaine.
At Preto's home on Ivy Lane in North Hanover officers confiscated 1 1/2 pounds of marijuana and the majority of the weapons.
When prosecutor's detectives caught up with Preto to arrest him at a Ewing restaurant last year, he had a .45-caliber handgun tucked into an ankle holster. In his car, officers found another handgun and a 500,000-volt stun gun.
After the July 2007 arrest, Preto posted bail and twice has been charged in Mercer County with stalking, making terroristic threats and domestic violence-related incidents, as well as violating a retraining order his wife obtained against him, Mercer County officials said yesterday.
For the murder plot alone, Preto's bail in Ocean County is $750,000 with no 10 percent option.
