Players touching the table with the tip of cue

Actually, no cues at all. Everyone has to roll it with their hands... and your hands have to be a certain size. Hands that are too big are a cheating aid...

Funk dat, pool needs to go full on Steve Simpson.....

Great 9b strategy...dont like where the ball is? Oh, ok, then just move it.

Rediculous.

Boston Shorty in his day would negotiate an agreement where he could climb on the table, to lessen the disadvantage of his short stature.

Earl would have agreed with 'no jump cues' since he was one of the best jumpers using his regular cue.

The advent of 10' tables seems to require extensions or extra long cues.

If Mosconi were still giving exhibitions he would insist on what he was used to: 5" corner pockets, and 5.5" side pockets. slow cloth, and mud balls...

The one change I would like to see would be a return to push-out 9-ball like we played before they went to one foul BIH to speed things up. Unless a person was a 9-ball fan during the sixties and seventies they have never seen great 9-ball strategy.

With Simonis fast napless cloth, and Aramith balls, it is rare to not see a ball made on the break by a pro, so all break cues really do is protect your playing cue during breaks.

How do you feel about using both eyes?

Ok...let's pretend that the rest/bridge did not exist...and you were playing some guy who pulls it out one shot because he couldn't reach the ball. Like you wouldn't have a problem with it?

Or jump cues didn't exist, and he pulls out a shorter cue to jump a ball...

Or diamonds didn't exist on the table and he starts measuring out and marking them on the rails? You ask him what he's doing and he tells you its to help him make bank shots lol.

You do have a screw loose.

One cannot produce or use something that does not exist.

If you cannot grasp that concept, you do not possess a sufficient level of basic logic to opine on the matter...

And anyway, all the tools you claim are cheats are available o both players.

One who chooses to not utilize what is available...will obviously have fewer options than one who does.

BY CHOICE

This is a pool forum...maybe we should leave the topic of existentialism to another venue.

So to summarize.

No touching the table with your tip.
No measuring with your stick like the mirror system or lining up a kick or rail shot...you know how they pivot with the stick from the pocket etc.
Remove the diamonds from the table.
Take the rest (rake) out of the game.

Also take out jump and break cues...should have to jump/break with playing cue.

I would add no chalk and everybody should have to play with a house cue. Also no fair having both hands touching the cue or looking at the object ball when shooting. Also you have to call shape - put a piece of cloth on the table indicating exactly where the cue ball will stop.

Good ideas.

oh also...instead of a shot clock....have a match clock that starts and stops every turn...like in chess. If you run out of time you lose.

Have not read all of the posts but I find a lot of the players pointing their cues to figure out the path of the balls are measuring wrong anyhow and the kick or path of the ball doesn't go the way they wanted anyhow.. Some do it just because they saw some pro do it. I keep a protractor in my case for one guy I play with and pull it out and ask him if he would like to use it. I do agree with the case against jump cues though. The rails are for kicking. I'm a purist.

This all seems needlessly restrictive.

Edit: Using your tip to mark the table with a chalk spot is definitely cheating, the rest is part of the game.
