with all due respect; who are the player(s) that are tough to watch?

There are only 2 that come to mind with me.. Mike Dechaine and ofcourse Charlie WIliams. Again, I respect what these players have done for the game and their accomplishments yet the way they go about playing a match I really can't stand.

Only two? There's only about two I can watch.

There are a few players I don't like to watch, but not for the same reason.

Keith McCready, Tommy Kennedy are two of the ones off the top of my head. They play so unorthodox with the moving, jumping, odd stokes that I just can't look at how they play and apply it to anything. Danny Bassevich is another one I guess.

I usually watch not only for how well they shoot balls in, but for how well they move the cueball around properly and to see how I can try to figure out to do the same thing.

There is no way in hell most players will be able to shoot the way Keith does, and the way Kennedy pokes at the ball without staying down for a second is also tough to learn from.

I like to watch players like Buddy Hall, Nick Varner, SVB, and even Efren and Francisco although those last two are also pretty hard to emulate with their loose and winding stroke.

Most annoying due to his game play: Charlie Williams.
Most annoying due to his personality: Earl Strickland.

I logged in to the free stream this weekend to see Shaw play & after two shots from Earl, I had to log off. He is unbearable.

Unorthodox players I don't find nearly as tough to watch as the guys that play slow or have annoying tendancies. With Dechaine it starts with the smug look on his face, the way he chalks his cue, his attitude, etc. He really just rubs me the wrong way. With Charlie Williams it's his slow, indecisive routine. I find myself yelling at my computer screen for him to hurry up until i finally find a different match to watch.

Slow players drive me up the wall! I want to see action and people enjoying playing! Alex Pagulayan is awesome to watch because you can see his love of the game on his face! Keith and Earl are always exciting, I like Efren cause you never know when the rabbit is coming out of the hat, Scott Frost is explosive, I'd even rather watch Fats than Mosconi just for the showmanship!

I find Alex P annoyingly slow.

I enjoy good pool so as long as they play very strong I can watch. The only time I have a tough time
watching is when a player is just playing bad, keeps making errors, and seems to have given up.

Watching the ocean state stream for example there was one guy who kept breaking dry from the center
in 9b, and another who kept dogging it at the end of the rack leaving easy 3 ball outs, I think
even missing ball in hand once.

Not trying to be cocky, they both play a mile better than me. And it's a free stream.
But to hold my attention they need to be playing great, near perfect pool. I need to see total mastery.
Otherwise it's hard to watch.

Charlie Williams is pretty painful to watch.
Danny Basavich breaking is like watching someone get electrocuted.
Mike Sigel is enjoyable to watch, but his pre-break routine is unbearable.

Anyone with headphones or a hat on... Especially if it's sideways.
No disrespect, but Ginky looks like an idiot with his hat and headphones: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lt1tI_vZIw4

Anyone who takes needless excessive time. Kid delicious is painfully slow at times but his personality can make up for it. Charlie Williams is also pretty slow and probably my least favorite to watch.

But they all pale in comparison to a guy I that plays in our league league. Extremely slow and little to no knowledge or skill. He likes to take a long time on every shot to make it appear that he has a clue, but in reality he has no idea whats going to happen when he hits the ball. This, for me, is like nails on a chalk board!

Pool is a fairly boring game to watch but there are a few pros who I really enjoy because of their speed and firepower.

Earl Strickland
Jayson Shaw
Rodney Morris
Evgeny Stalev
Keith McCready

The rest are just fine but not as fun to watch.

This is terrible. Miss'em quick is what I tell them. If they can't take a hint, I tell them the truth. :slap:

I can no longer deal with Earl's antics. Probably the GREATEST 9-ball player ever. But just can't do it anymore.

Also, Mike Davis's fundamentals drive me insane . lol. Don't have anything against the man but.....DAMN!.

Surprised no one has mentioned him yet.

LOL touche- Dechaine and Willams are turn off. Dechaine always scowling like rest of us owe him money. At a WC year ago, Williams was criticised for his extremely slow play.
They must have introduced the shot clock because of him. :grin-square:

The only player i could say I've actually enjoyed watching was Allison Fisher. Win or lose she has an impeccable routine and very deliberate style I enjoy watching. Plus I'm more of a perfectionist and deliberate shooter myself, so her style is something I try to bring to my own game.

Too Slow.
Guys like Charlie Williams, Nick Varner, and Danny Basavich (Kid Delicious) are great players, but way too slow and indecisive to watch.
Would rather watch paint dry.
Alex Pagulayan puts himself on this list sometimes, but not always.

Explosive.
Love watching the players that play a faster, more confident, and explosive game.
Gents like Earl Strickland, Shane Van Boening, Jayson Shaw, and Rodney Morris.
Johnny Archer used to be on the too slow list but his pace has picked up a lot and he is closer to this group now. He kind of fits into the Technical Masters group too I think.

Technical Masters.
But there is another category that I love to watch also. And I think this one is good for the game and TV almost as much as the explosive players.
And that’s a group that always seem to play intelligent, nice paced, nearly perfect pool.
They seem to be great role models for fans to learn from, respect, and emulate.
Guys like Dennis Orcollo, Thorsten Hohmann, and Mika Immonen.

Love watching great pool, and am always trying to learn from them.
But not from the Too Slow group.
