Playing pool with progressive lenses

It was a big adjustment for me. I finally got my eye doc to write me a script where the bifocal part is higher in the lens than normal, and bought larger frames to house them in. And I try to keep them higher on my nose, tho that is still an issue.
They help a lot. The area around the table is much clearer, but looking off into the distance in a bigger room throws me off some. I just wear them when I'm playing, and put my regular ones on after.

My doc said with my astigmatism that I would have a difficult time with contacts. Thus the glasses, I'm afraid. Unless/until lasik becomes more affordable.
Try a different doc. I have an astigmatism and I use progressive glasses. I use contacts for distance and use them only for pool but they do make all day wear lenses for me too. Get a second opinion. They absolutely changed my pool life.
I had to start wearing glasses and have progressive lenses. It didn't t affect my game. I still suck. 
Honestly. If you don't let it bother you or use it as a excuse it shouldn't have any affect except for seeing better. You will now notice all the defects in the balls, and cloth instead of just a blur object with no detail.
I think most people blame glasses for their problem of not playing as good as they use to when it fact it is just the fact that they are getting older and their skills, desire and passion aren't the same.

Yes, passion and desire is what allows you to improve. I know a lot of guys that complain and complain about their glasses and spend fortunes on different frames that might work for playing pool. They are also too reticent for whatever reason or too lazy or too trepiditious about looking into contacts. Makes no sense to me why someone wouldn't try them at least.

first of all its a little difficult because there are multiple seeing areas, when we measure them we tell you to put them where u wear them, if they move or slide your not seeing out of right area, second there is 100 brands of progressives, you cant get a inexpensive one you need a digital one, i recomend autograph 2,or 3 best lense i fit. if you are presbyopic its hard to see cue ball up close with just distance glasses the rest of table is fine,

Soon, hopefully, I will have a cataract removed and an astigmatism in my right eye corrected all at the same time. I won't have to wear classes, or contacts, and will be able to see the balls for the first time in years.

I struggled with my glasses and used them as an excuse for a while, my friend who has worn glasses all his life asked to see my glasses, he started laughing and reached in his case and pulled-out a small bottle of lense cleaner and a cloth, after he properly cleaned my glasses I liked them a lot more, put a small bottle of lense cleaner and a couple cleaning cloths in your case and use them and you will like your glasses a lot more.

I wear progressive glasses all the time except when I sleep and play pool. For pool I use contacts. I would prefer to wear glasses but I could never find a pair that I can see well enough through. With contacts there are no rims and the contacts move with your eyes so even though you are bending down and looking up you are still looking through the center of the contact. Also, with contacts you can have them prescribed for just shooting pool. In my case 3 to 12 feet.
Tried playing with progressives for years. Trouble mostly on longer shots moving eyes from cueball>object ball>pocket, keeping focus without moving head.
Just got optometrist to write me a prescription for single vision lenses with a focal point from about 24 inches to 12 feet. She even had me bring my pool cue in for the exam.
These glasses work great on the table. The only difficulty with the lenses is chalking or reading.
