I know I will probably get a lot of flack about this, but raffles are only legal in the U.S. for charitable events and donations. Enough said.

Yep, you are right. In Denver, they only busted about 8 of them in one fell swoop and they were not publicly advertised like these forums. You had to know someone to get in.ForumGhost516 said:Just like poker is illegal outside of casinos but guess what there are card rooms all over the country. Enough said.
I'm not taking any side, just want to add a point. Any chances sold across state lines involves the Federal Gov. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if it happens more than a couple times they can yell "rico act".ForumGhost516 said:You failed to see the point im not defending it, im simply saying its going to happen regardless and as for them swooping up poker rooms id be willing to bet that more than half of them that literally reopned within a month.

As long as the house is just charging an entrance fee and not taking a percentage it is legal. The Joss tour donates a cue to each pool room at each tourny. The pool rooms then raffle off the cue to get back some of the money might lose for table time. This raffle may not be legal, but it is only done once every several months. I can't see the police spending any time on this.

I wouldn't try a poker room here, but cue raffles and calcuttas no problem. Win a pool tournament for 5000-1000000$ (if we ever had one) keep all the money... win the lotto keep all the money.
I watched Sicko, a documentary about health care in the U.S, do you really need health insurance (like car insurance) to go to the hospital. They showed people with no coverage going to good hospitals and they got put into a cab and sent to some county hospital across town. They showed people that worked at 911 ground zero not qualify for health insurance so they couldn't get any treatment. They lost their jobs and everything. Here it is free for every Canadian at any and all hospitals. If you spent a year in a hospital, Free! We don't have health insurance (unless traveling outside country) just a Canadian medicare card. This is government issued. Parents fill out a form when you are born and the card is issued for life. Also people moving to this country have full coverage once they become a Canadian citizen.
I wondered if that was true or not... seems strange for the riches country in the world to not offer medicare. Those 911 workers went to Cuba and got free treatment and many of the pills that where prescribed they didn't even need. One women was spending 400$ a month for inhalers and bought the same thing in Cuba for 40 cents.
Crazy stuff if true!
