Please help identify this wood

Here is a cue that was brought in to me recently with a 2 1/2 inch scratch that went down to bare wood in the forearm for a forearm refinish, and re wrap. I have never seen wood like that used in the cues forearm, but it is certainly some beautiful wood to use for a cue. It also is used again in the cues butt as segments above and below a large piece of Spalted Maple.

My guess would be Thuya Burl as well but I'm not up on the 'acid drop' part.

They look like stabilized ( polymer ) woods to me.

Could be thuya, but I have some redwood burl that looks very similar to that.

Look for the long fiberous threads, teardrop eyes and coppery color of Thulya Burl. This burl grows under the sand at the foot of the tree.

Thanks very much to all who posted to this thread, I have identify the wood used in this cue and it is Instrument Grade Thulya Burl and Spalted Maple. The cue was built by a Gentleman named Ron Kilby from Oregon State. I called Ron this afternoon and spoke to him in depth about the woods used. and I found out that myself and Ron have actually met, during the 3-Cushion World Championship held in 2002 at the Tacoma Elks Lodge. Ron has been building cues for many years along with Musical Instruments, and he can still be contacted for a Pool or Billiards cue at the link below.

They look like stabilized ( polymer ) woods to me.

They are not polymer stablized Joey, and the forearm also is not cored.
The cues butt however, is cored up into the handle.
