I'm not sure what you are saying isn't true.
It looks like you simply elaborated on what I said.
I think more people actually are collecting these types of cues than you might suspect. They are doing just what you are saying....starting out this way. But for many I think it will never go beyond this sort of level simply because of the costs involved. For a lot of people, this would be an example of one of the highest cues in their collection. And a lot of people will have a very small collection of fairly low end cues. In fact, this is likely a lot more common that large high end collections.
I love your web site. For me it is a resource. But I am not in a position nor likely will I ever be in a position to entertain it as a place to seek to purchase something. Adam cues don't even make it into your "Other Vintage Cues" page nor are there any of their brochures on your brochure page. It's a different end of the market.
I am suspecting that you don't hear a whole lot from the people through your web site who are looking for these cues because it does not look like you serve that market. I suspect there are more people interested than you may have been led to believe.
I am not in any way saying you are wrong nor questioning your expertise. I am merely saying you may have misunderstood what I said and in fact what you posted merely elaborates on what I said, it does not contradict it. I did not venture to guess the value of the cue at all except to suggest it may have some value and to suggest that because of its age and level it would be more collectible. As an example, compare it to a plain brand new Adam....not collectible at all. This is not true for numerous custom makers, their new work is often as collectible as their vintage work, which is observable on your own web site. A brand new Szamboti is just as likely to be found there as one of his dad's early cues.
If you go to Hercek's page you will find in his resources for Burton Spain an Adam brochure because Spain distributed Adam cues. I am extremely proud to own one of those cues in that Spain/Adam brochure. Having an Adam featured on the web site of that master cue maker is probably as close as I will ever get to owning one of his cues. And no....I won't be trying to finance one, thank you.
Again, I respect your expertise and am not attempting to contradict it at all.
I like the cue posted. I really do. If I come across one cheap I will snap it up, but I can guarantee you I can't afford the fair market price of it. If I had one I would care for it for posterity as a vintage piece and a classic example of the genre.
