Please HELP ME - Predator 314-2 problem bought online (Seybert)

Hi,

last week I bought a Predator 5K1 + 314-2 shaft from Seybert.
It arrived in Italy on Friday and today I found the time to play with for a couple of hours then I realized the shaft make a strange sound.

If I take the shaft in my hand and I shake it a little bit I hear a strange sound as if something near the tip is moving inside and hitting the side of the shaft, there are no scratches on the ferrule.

Please help me address this to the Seybert customer service in the best way because I don't have the knowledge (pool and english) to this on my own.

I've been waiting a couple of months to buy a cue I finally chose what I wanted and went over budget and now I'm facing this problem (thousands of miles away from where I bought it).

Anyone had to solve similar issue and can give me good advice to solve this in the best and fastest way?

Thank you in advance.

Simply contgact Seybert's and tell them your issue. Offer to send the shaft back to Seybert's and ask that they examine it and explain what the rattle issue is or replace the shaft.

If you paid with a CC and they won't oblige your request you can stop the payment. Apparently you received a cue shaft that is not in accordance with Predator specifications.

Check the ferreul it's most likely loose. You can send the cue back to seyberts or have the ferreul reglued.

Reglued my butt tell them you want a new shaft overnighted to you with a pick up slip for the old one.--Leonard

There is a foam insert in the shaft that might be what you are hearing, but you shouldn't hear it so it is a defective shaft call them seyberts or predator they have a warranty as long as no one works on it...

How much did you pay for the postage?Did you pay any taxes? How long did you wait for the cue to arrive?Thats exactly why I bought the cue in Germany for 30%+ then it is in USA.
Send them an e-mail and ask what to do.They`ll probably tell you to send it back and send money for postage back. It`s probably a pretty expensive repair.Bad luck
Greetings from eastern neighbour:)

send the shaft back, they will either send a new shaft or send it back to predator and reglue the ferreul if it is loose. Then send it back 2 you.I don't know how seyberts handles warranty work but you could be looking at down time.I had one that was loose and I had danny tibbits reglue it.

Let's wait..

I checked the shaft again and the ferrule does not seem to be loose.
As for the sound it is 'solid' I don't know how this could be related to 'foam insert' (If I understand what that means).

I opened a ticket at the seybert customer service asking them how to solve the issue let's see what (and when) they answer.

As for the one who proposed a overnight ship with a pick up of the old one, I believe things are a little bit more complicated with international shipping.

That's sad..

he ordered a shaft from seyberts , it costs him 1) the shaft, 2) the shipping costs. which happened to be international and cost quiet abit. (which is FINe because he wanted that shaft anyway, so he agreed for that international shipping obviously)

but now sending the shaft back again internationaly and shipping it to seyberts would even cost more. now say they fix it for him, they'll ship it back to him once again and would he again pay for that shipping?

well for me I call that over-cost of a package. so my guessing would be seyberts might just pay for that shaft shipped back in, and shipped out to the guy again. That would be fear only if the shaft really has an issue. imo!

asbani.

Defective/Recalled

Check the serial # on the shaft. There is a potiental problem with shafts with the serial #'s between 003000 and 007000 on the 314-2's. Check the web site.

Thank you for the info; in a couple of hours I'll be at home and will check the serial number.

But I keep asking myself if the shaft has been recalled why Seybert sold it to me in the first place?

Is there anyone that can help me sort this out in the fastest and easiest way directly with Seybert?

I took one in for a repair. When I asked Predator what to do, they told me it had to be returned by the origional purchaser. They will mprobably want the receipt. They all were not bad in those runs. They demonstrate how to check it on the web page.

When something like this happens, we (Muellers) would pay for the return shipping and then ship the replacement back at our expense, not the customers. We may lose a little money, but we gain the customer's trust.

Predator problem

I'm sorry to hear of your shaft problem especially since you live in Italy. I own 7 predator shafts with different trim rings for different cues and I haven't had any problems with my shafts.

The following is some information that may be of help to you if you can't get your problem corrected by Seybert's customer service:

Predator stands by their warranty, unless you have modified the product. It is one of the strong points for using their equipment.
You don't need a reciept, but you will have to fill out a form that you can download from their website. They do all their repairs in bunches, so if you miss the turn in on Thursday, you will have to wait unitl next thursdays turn in and the following weeks send out.

That's a great way to treat your customers by not asking them to pay shipping on a defective item that's not their fault. I'll definately remember this in the future if i'm buying something that more than one dealer has and Meullers is one of the choices....

I deal with Seyberts on a regular basis and I would be very surprised if they did not make the situation right. They are a grerat company to deal with.

Hi,

I really don't want this to become something it is not.

I'm still waiting for Seybert to tell me something about the ticket I opened yesterday, I'll update the thread as soon as I receive an answer.

I checked the serial number of my shaft and it is not one of those recall and I think mine has not a problem with the ferrule (no scratches and the sound seems 'distributed' along the shaft) but I cannot say this for sure.

I don't hide my hope that someone from Seybert is reading this thread too.

Ciao.
