What he said. You have to apply some discipline to get the best benefit. If you start out & stay with trying to use lots of power, you'll make it nearly impossible to troubleshoot your shortcomings & from where they originate. Lots of subtle traps going on with the break stroke...

Duane,

What THEY said! I just bought one, (but have borrowed it several times). Great practice tool on any table. It WILL improve your break. Period. SVB has been using one for years. (just wish i could play as good....:)).

Charley is a great guy. If you want to "try one out", give Charley a call, he is just up the road from you. Or drive to KC and you can try mine....ha ha...

Hope all is well.....GL

Click on my YouTube link in my signature. Then search for other vids from me. I have a short break rack vid.

I would copy and past the link but I'm sending this from my phone.

The BreakRak is an excellent training tool, for developing your break. It helps you to learn the correct CB placement, and the correct speed necessary to control the CB, in the middle of the table. Along with the BreakRak, Joe Tucker's Racking Secrets is invaluable information, to go with it. Racking Secrets is included in Charlie Bond's (BreakRak inventor) book, The Great Break Shot (also a worthy publication)...or you can get the dvd direct from Joe Tucker's site (www.joetucker.net).

The Breakrack is the only thing I own pool related that I would never consider selling. By far the most usefull pool training aid I ever used.

Cloth wear?

This is the first I've seen this - I'm very tempted to buy it, but have a question for anyone who owns a Breakrak: Where the bow pushes under the side rails, have you had any problems with wear/tear of the cloth? It looks like there is a rubber-like substance to grip, but I can't tell from the videos if it rubs against the rails when you break. Thanks.

I havent had any problems at all with the rail cloth from my Breakrak. Its a foam grip like on a treadmill , it is slightly tight as you bend it in but I dont think its tight enough to cause a problem,at least it never has for me. As for it moving when you break,it doesnt.

Thanks poolhound. I think I'm going to give it a try.

I love my BreakRak. The only thing is sometimes if you miscue or hit the BreakRak off to the side, it will go toward the nylon ropes that secure it to the rods which sends the ball flying off the table. Other than that, it's great. It comes with three sets of rods, for a 7' 8' and 9' table. If you get one, also get Charley's book, "The Great Break Shot." As Scott mentioned above, among other great, useful information, it also has Joe Tucker's Racking Secrets. when I got my BreakRak, there was a bundle deal, where you got the book for a little cheaper with the BreakRak than if you were to have bought it separately.

Breakrak

The Breakrak is to Pool what the pitching machine is to Baseball.

But:

1) It's pretty boring after a few times.
2) Personally, I like to see the actual results of my break.

It's like test driving a car 100 times ........... all in a driveway, and never on the streets.

I've never used it, but I hear SVB uses the breakrak. That should tell you a lot right there.

Hey there Snapshot, you're the first person to say the BreakRAK is boring. All of my customers tell me it's an intense workout. I enjoy practicing, it's like a series of tests, to see how my appliction of new knowledge is coming along.

As far as test driving a car in the driveway is concerned, if a person doesn't drive well, the driveway would be a great place to start.

I suggest that all of my customers & friends, continue their Break Shot practice to the real situation & break a few racks of balls, after dialing in their stroke. It suddenly becomes a test of "what they've learned"....

Top 3 best pool inventions of ALL TIME, imo.

I agree, other than the obvious(tables, balls and cues) it is the best!!!! I was sceptical at first, I couldnt have been more wrong. EVERYONE should use one, If I owned a pool room I would have a few for my customers to use.
