**PLEASE READ** Stolen Cue

My cue was stolen tonight. If anyone sees this cue, and they can help get it back to me, I'll offer a $500 reward with no questions asked. I don't care if the person who took it gives it back. I will give the reward. It is a Padgett with an ebony forearm and butt sleeve. It has an ivory joint and ivory butt. It has alternating ivory/snakewood points. The ivory points are shorter than the snakewood points. The snakewood points have blue veneers surrounding them, and all of the points, both ivory and snakewood, are capped off with ivory diamonds. That description is of the forearm, and the there is an identical design in the butt sleeve. It has a black, leather wrap (which is actually goat skin but I'm not sure if anyone could actually tell that just by looking at it). And, naturally, now that I want to post photos, I have no idea where they are. I will try to find some pictures that I took of the cue and post them as soon as I can.

Damn, I really sorry to hear this Jimmy. I really hope it turns up. Where did this happen at?

I know this probably doesn't help my cause, but I don't really want to name the room where it happened because I don't want it to reflect poorly on the establishment. I'm partially to blame because I sat the cue down and walked off. It wasn't until later that I even realized the cue was gone. There is only one possible place that I left it. However, even taking responsibility for my ridiculously dumb actions, once a person walked off with it, they stole the damn thing and that is the part that is NOT my fault. So many people that hang out at pool rooms are back stabbing opportunists. If the opportunity arises to gain anything, regardless of who they have to screw, they'll take it. The sad thing is, the person who has my cue might very well be someone who is smiling at me, shaking my hand and calling me a friend whenever we see each other. One of the things that makes me question why I'm even involved with this game.

Jimmy,

Immediately post signs offering the $500 reward, NO QUESTIONS ASKED! At that poolroom and other poolrooms and bars in the area. Offer the perp a way out, saying someone may have mistakenly taken your cue thinking it was theirs. Make it sound like a simple mistake and not a theft. Never use the words "theft" or "stolen" on your flyer! Make it sound like a harmless accident.

Get these flyers up everywhere TODAY! It very well may work. Whoever has that cue would have a helluva time unloading it and the $500 will start to look real good. They may give it to a friend to return to you, with some cockamami story. Don't question them about the story! Just accept what you hear. Remember NO QUESTIONS ASKED for the return of this cue. They can even return it to a trusted third party, if they prefer.

Make sure to put your phone number and e-mail address on the flyer. IT'S COMING BACK!!!

Jimmy,

I'm going to copy the desciption of the cue and get it out to all of the major cue collectors and dealers in my area (Texas). I know all of these guys personally and if your cue shows up, they'll find out who has it for you.

If you have a picture, please post it and I will put a flyer together and post it at the Fast Eddie's Olhausen 9 Ball Tour Season Finale this coming weekend.

Just a suggestion if you have a picture of the cue. Take pictures around to all the pawn shops in your area as fast as you can as the cue may already have been pawned.

Good luck,

Stones

Say Jimmy,
Don't know if I'll be of any help since I like in K.C.,MO ,I do have a web site that would post a pic ,if you have any. I was the one that lost a case with 109 names on it. LES

Jimmy

I lost my Szamboti the same way back in the early 1980's. I left it on the table thinking it would be ok - took a piss - and it was gone. A couple of years ago, I saw the identical cue for sale on this forum (imagine that!) - I am 98% positive that it was my cue, but there was no way to prove it. FWIW, the seller offered to return the cue to me - but after 20+ years and no proof of ownership - I refused. Obviously many people had owned the cue after I did, and he had paid good money for it - much more than I did. I was amazed just to see it again.

I hope you get your cue back, but if you don't, just remember that there might be a tree somewhere in this world that holds the magical wood that was destined to be placed in your hands.

Oh yeah... don't forget, Bad Karma's a bittch and a half when you're on the wrong end of it.

Jimmy,

Is this the same Padgett you have had for several years? I am pretty sure I'd remember it, but you should post a pic of it.

Hey Jimmy,

That really sucks that your cue got stolen. I know what place you are talking about but won't name it either. I will keep my eyes peeled for your cue and I hope the person does the right thing and gives it back.

Here are a couple of pics I found on AZB not much but it helps.

It always sucks to see these threads pop up. I know how awful that feels. I really hope you get your cue back. I like Jay's suggestions.

Sorry about the cue. A piece of advice, file a police report. That way if you do find it in a pawn shop, you'll get it back. The police may even find it for you. I'll keep an eye out.

Thanks for all the advice, everyone. Jay, I think I'm going to do what you said today. I can't even describe how sick I feel.

I did file a police report last night just in case it might be of some benefit.

Only problem with giving them an 'out' by suggesting that it was an accident is that they took my whole case, which has my name engraved on it. They got my cue, my break cue and my jump cue. They pretty much got everything I have. Pretty tough to accidentally do that.

I have a plain ebony cue that Tim made me as a wedding gift. I was originally going to use it as a break cue but, since it was a wedding gift, I kind of felt like I didn't want to subject it to the abuse that a break cue goes through. Now I'm glad, otherwise they'd have that too.

If the worst happens and you can't get your stuff back, you might want to talk to Timmy anyway. I've heard that he sometimes still does work for close friends...as you seem to be.

Good luck.

Hey Jimmy,
I have a spare jump/break cue if you want to use it. It is a purpleheart Jerico Stinger. I have it for sale right now in the for sale section but I will take it down and let you use it for as long as you need it. Just let me know. I am in Phoenix too.

Brady

I'll also keep my eyes open, and spread the word down here in Tucson.

I hope it was a mistake and you get it back.

Hi Brady. That's a very kind offer and thank you very much for extending it. I think I'm okay though. I have a couple cheapo cues I can use here for break cues and, if I can schmooze her a little, my wife has the same break cue as the one that was in my case.

Thanks again.
