We just wrapped up our 11th year of high school billiard competition in the Dallas area.We have been working hard to get billiards as a sport in the school for the last 12 years. The industry needs this, the schools need this, the students need this, and the parents love it. Laura Smith and the BEF is working hard to get more juniors involved in the sport. I am not sure if they come to AZ. A few of the players i.e., the two players with the first close lag played last year in the 2011 BEF Junior Nationals. They will be both heading to Wisconsin July 11-15th for this years "BEF Junior Nationals" again. I am proud that two of these players from these teams have received 2012 BEF Scholarships for academic performance. We try to make the program fun, good sportsmanship, teamwork, and stress pass to play (grades) in order to compete. We have had 14 high schools in the past 11 years compete with several other schools approving teams.
 
Hey Earl,
I have said for many years that you are doing the most important work for pool in North America. Your work should be supported and extended. The next time anyone wants to blow money on a starting big tournament or tour you should sponsor Earl instead. This is the ONLY way pool will ever grow.
 
Earl...Great program! Just FYI, Sarah Rousey is the new face for the BEF. You should contact her, and get her on board with your program.

Hi Marcus thanks again. You are doing a great job yourself in Houston. Have you started to contact any of the high schools there yet? Love to have next season you guys participate in the finals. Our students would love it. A true Texas state championship.

Scott, I have not spoken with Laura in a week or so. Last I heard was Samm Diep will be the new ED. Either way I will still help the BEF. I have been helping them for 11 years now. This summer will be my 7th year as tournament director for the Junior Nationals. There are a lot of good people trying to get the ball moving faster with school programs such as Marcus Norwood, Roy Pastor and others. We need to have the instructors involved more.
 
Earl...You're right too. Samm will be doing PR work, as she is very prominant and capable with social media...and lives in CO, where Sarah does not.:D

Great Video and great work

Just wanted to bump this back up, and point out that Earl Munson has done a tremendous job every year at the BEF Junior Nationals as the TD, giving a lot of young players their first real experience at a professionally run tournament. This video shows the results of a lot of hard work through the year helping young players improve and compete.
It's also worth pointing out that the US Junior National Championships are coming up July 11-15 at Romine's High Pockets in Greenfield Wisconsin, and that qualifiers are happening around the country to get there. Thank you SO much for posting this sensational video! I apologize I didn't see it sooner as I was busy popping out at baby at this time ;) and have had my hands pretty full ever since.

The BEF & the juniors in your area are so fortunate to have you! You're an amazing ambassador for our sport and I look forward to meeting you and working together.

Noticed you took over the chair for BEF, I was in WI with my son for the Jr Nationals, and he's looking forward to heading to the next one, best of luck with the new position!

The tournament was run very well, even though some of the kids were young the standards set for behavior and play were very professional, it was probably a more serious atmosphere than some pro events I've been to.

Congrats to your son and thanks for your participation and support. I hope to see you next year and keep your eyes peeled for more to come. We have a big year planned.
