The topic of "copying" a cue has become painfully exhausting and insults the hard work put forth by many talented cuemakers.

While I am not a fan of copying cues (Gina/Mottey cues come to mind), I do think the Gracio 360 cue was created to bring back one of the most honored points and butterfly cues. It uses different woods, clearly can be identified as something that is not a Brunswick 360 and am sure has a different taper.

The Gracio 360 cues are well made and executed very well. Not everyone likes a inlayed cue no matter how intricate the work maybe. The Black Boar cue is amazing IMO as is the Ginacue I voted for.

Why do people feel it is necessary to take away from the winner when their horse has not won?

If your cue made the list to be voted on you should be happy. All of these cues represent something special and make it #1 in someones eyes.

Just venting .. sorry but I don't get the bashing that goes on.

Way to go Scott, simply amazing detail. Not to mention , you build 5 of these bad boys! Doing it 1 time is awesome enough, but x5, wow!
Congrats Mr. Gracio, well deserved!

O MAN MY CUE DIDNT WIN...:crying: O WELL....no really congrats to all the great cues and the cuemakers who were represented..thanks jaime for doing this again...i love seeing all the great works that are coming out of diffrent shops...and will see you all in march. mickey

Thanks Jamie for starting this great thread. Hopefully, you'll do it again next year. More people voted this year than last, likely we'll get more next.

Thanks everybody who voted for my work. As a newer guy on the block I didn't expect majority vote. It makes me wonder how excited people would get if one of the masters had built these. Going on my 6th year building I have a lot to learn and can only hope to gain the respect they have within the pool world. Thanks for compliment.

It's sad that we can't have a fun thread without drama. The "copy" thing is stupid. I simply filled a cue order so I can pay bills. There was never a thought about "cue of the year" or how many people would like them. I simply built them to please the guys who were ordering them. I like old cues and the 360's are one of the greats. I love a challenge and wanted to be on the short list of guys that could build one. To build five of them was a personal challenge. Building two cues alike is rare from my shop and five needs to be a special occasion.

"Someone" mentioned in an earlier post that I seem to be "wrestling to discover my own true voice". I have my own "voice" but am still growing, as are we all. It is to build every design anybody could order and do it once. I get bored building two cues alike and do everything I can to push customers to unique ideas. I like to find new techniques and accomplish things that have not been seen, such as the arched boxes in a cue I built this year. (Pictured unfinished) Trust me this was not an easy decoration and to my knowledge has not been done. It turned out great and who knows if I'll use it again. If I recall correctly my 12th cue was full splice with Ivory veneers. That's a crazy build for a newbie.
I took on the 360 project because it's something people have wanted and nobody has been able to do.
Even with all the negativity I'd still like to see the 360 inspired cue you built.

Observations

I try to stay away from this page but find myself back to check on the opinions. But today I decided to to go back to the first page and spend some time looking at all the great workmanship that is sitting there. To all the builders of these cue's(AND I MEAN ALL) Thank you all for your dedication and craftsmanship. There is not one cue in this group I would not like to own.

did i miss anything?

Scott....winner winner, chicken dinner

TW....feelings hurt that his cue didn't win and confirms "Ego-dzilla" status

John...."back-channel" extraordinaire and may need a bodyguard now

Jamie.....probably wondering why he does such nice things (like this poll) here

Nick....well, being Nick

Chris.....narrowly misses being "hustled"

others.....laughing their asses off or shaking their heads

Sean.....still wondering why the TW cue didn't win

Yep, this year on the forums is starting off great...

Thanks Jamie, it's been fun . watch out for this year I'm going to put my spin on the 360 this year and I'm going off way off . I have a friend that likes Tattoos and big cues.... D Hill

Hey Jamie,
Good job putting up the poll and letting everyone look at some great cues from over the year..
Congrats to Scott for making a beautiful winning cue, and all the other great cues that were displayed..
I'm sure everyone has a personal opinion about cues that get their juces flowing. That is a great thing about cues. Personal tastes is what keep our industry growing.
Best,
Ken Kerner

Wasn't this thread a lot longer than this about 12 hours ago?

Yep, guess the forum critters ate some of it.

BTW, mucho congrats to Scott for such beautiful execution in his modern rendition of the famous 360. Way to go !!

Thats funny... I remember Mr. Wilson telling me he didn't like cleaning up when people made jacktards of themselves....

I guess we need a new term for this... maybe the moron mop...

congrats to jamie for starting the whole thing
it was fun for sure
i see nothing wrong with jamie entering his own cue

i am glad scott won,he deserves some recognition
this was a great accomplishment

while at the same time, there were other great cues on here

i don't see any losers among the cues

i agree,there isn't a one that i would not like to own

scott did a gambler that was unique and i am doing another project with him
i have tried to get a certain cue made for over 15 years and scott is the onlyone
who dared to try

this was fun
