Pledge on shaft?

After reading Varney's post about wax, I decided to try pledge on my experimental shaft. The spray worked real good so I went out and got some Pledge wipes--they worked better. So, before I screw something up, has any tried this before with good success? The label says "no wax" so I'm not real sure what's making it so slippery, but it slides good. It also has a nice lemon (citrus) smell as well.

I always keep a couple wipes in my case for emergencies. I don't know if it's good for the shaft or not, but I doubt it hurts given that it's designed for use on hard wood furniture.
 
Pledge

I use Pledge all the time on my shafts. I clean my shafts first, then use Pledge on them. Pledge is a wood polisher, and my cuemaker told me to use nothing, but a wood polisher on my cues. Not a wax, not an oil, a polish.

The wipes probably are a good idea, but I just use a paper towel and spray Pledge onto it.

I've just cleaned all my bar cues with Pledge wipes. These things appear to act as a cleaner as well because the blue from the shafts is coming off onto the wipes. I also cleaned one shaft with Majic Eraser first and then Pledge. It worked good too. However, I now think the spray is the way to go. You can spray what you want. The wipes are saturated so you'll need to wipe the excess of, if any. I cut up one wife into eight pieces (squares) and used one piece per shaft. A small 3" by 3" did a whole cue (complete bar cue) with pretty good results.

I know what you mean....thats what I did to my 1st wife due to her helping herself to my bankroll. I'd put $1200 in the safe...go to get it a few days later & it was only $800. Maybe I miscounted once...but not once a week. They found her in NC, SC, GA, TN, MD, OH, FL, & AL. She always did like to travel. :eek: :D :D :D

I'm from SC and I thought in some cases that's still legal in some counties under certian situations.

Kinda like the law still on the books you can slap your wife on the courthouse steps on sunday kinda thing....
 
Getting back to the thread, I used pledge spray on arimith billiard balls in a home made ball cleaner (inverted auto polisher mounted in a 5 gal bucket). Really shined those balls up - they looked brand new. Haven't noticed any negative effects.
 
Yes, back to topic is it better to use no wax formula, or is wax formula good as well?

Reminds me of a dude that took me around once. ONCE. Got back from our trip and was told by others that he was recently out of the pen for chopping up his GF:eek: .

But...I use Pledge sometimes, especially on a new shaft. I get it damp and rub it hot, Pledge the paper towel and jack tha, no, wait, rub it in hot, hot, hot.

I think it may lead to increased bluing, but I like my shaft blue. How else am I supposed to see the end of it?

I clean my set of Aramiths with Pledge also. I get a clean rag, spray a shot onto a ball, rub it down good with the Pledge, then hand it to my wife who does the finishing touches with a dry, clean rag until the whole set is done. Takes about 5-10 minutes of our time, but boy do the balls roll sweet afterwards.
I also use the Pledge spray on my shafts from time to time. Never have had any adverse effects on either the shafts or the balls.

Why does it increase the bluing, does the chalk stick to it more? I was going to try the pledge but can't stand the blue and dirt.. Like my shafts clean and shinny..I was also told not to use wax on the shafts or any wood, because it closes the pores and the wood needs to breath so to speak..
