Pocket problem

Our local rec room recently purchased new Olhausen tables. We have noticed that the pockets are very loose and are held in with just 2 tacks.
How can we go about improving them? None of us are table mechanics.

The pockets shouldn't be loose. Get under the table with a screwdriver and tighten the bolts that hold the pockets on. They probably just aren't tight enough. That, or the mechanic cut corners and didn't put all of the bolts in.

What model are the tables? Leather web pockets, or drop pockets?

They are drop pockets, it appears that they are held in with two tacks. Don't think there are any bolts but will check.

Sorry don't have the model. I wasn't here were they were installed and all that is on the table is an Olhausen tag.

Our initial thought is that screws would do a much better job. I know
on my Anniversary I have screws and they work fine.

Thanks for all the replies.

Yeah, the Anniversary has a different style drop pockets/castings. Are they leather drop pockets or rubber/plastic? Either type will be attached by tacks or nails near the facing. Ideally, the pockets will tuck back right behind the facing. You only want a small nail. A bigger screw would be more that a ball could hit and get chipped on.

If they are leather bucket pockets, check under the rails. There should be a couple of small leather tabs riveted to the front of the pocket. You can screw those to the underside of the frame to hold the pockets in place a little bit better.

If that's not it and you're still having issues, snap a couple pictures while you're there. That might help us give you the best fix for your table.

The only thing holding the pockets in are the tacks. The pockets themselves are pretty flimsy. I compared them to an older Olhausen
table in the room and it had rubber drop pockets. The lip on the rail is also higher on the new table. I'm thinking that we need to screw them in to prevent them loosing. My overall opinion of the table is very low.

Thanks for all the help.

Duh, I forgot to ask what kind pockets they were. Anyways, the table should have came with screws for the pockets. That's how they should be attached. Did they leave any hardware behind, perhaps under the table somewhere? Sounds like a bad mechanic.

Really don't know I wasn't down here when they were installed. I think we can probably fix it. if you happen to know what type of screw we need it would be a big help.

Thanks

If you use screws in the face of the pockets, you'll be replacing your balls more often than you like.
