Can anyone point me to a link that shows the mouth and throat opening, the cut angle (40d?) and the down angle of facing (15d?)? Thanks guys!

Chris

Not sure what you're asking for but here is a link to a vid about crown V, the pocket stuff starts at 1:50.>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcudNVfnxX0

If your looking to get confirmation on the angles I "think" a Crown V tournament may be cut at 41 degrees in corner and have 13-15 degree down angle. Pocket width is 4 1/2" to 4 9/16" at mouth.

Yes the angles are what I am looking for. Been reading all of glens posts about making sure that tables are done right. I assume that if I have all this information on hand, I can relay it to the mechanic and hope for the best. By the way, I had a hard time listening to Ron talk in the video cause the reporter was so hot!

Oh....well if it's an older table and you want to tighten the pockets then you need to make sure the mech has experience doing that. Sometimes thicker facings will work. If it needs extensions you need someone capable and with the tools to do the job right.

I know! I've read enough hack stories on here I'm half afraid to call anyone! I'm trying to educate myself enough to be able to have an intelligent conversation with whomever does the table. The thing is though, I want the table to play like a Tournament GC not a Diamond. Diamonds are great but I grew up with the GC and that's what I'm looking for.

Well now hold on here a second, you've said you want your table to play like a GC tournament edition....ahhhhh....is the table you have...a Gold Crown?

Glen

PS. You can make a jackass out of a race horse, but you can't make a race horse out of a jackass!

I did all the work on my GC (extend subrails, replace cushions, etc.) it was time consuming and challenging. If I had to do it all over again, I would send the rails and have it done by the pros here in this forum knowing it will be done correctly the first time around. Good luck!!!

Yes Glenn its a jackass of a regular GC III. I assume there were/are differences between the regular III and the tourney. I've seen enough of your work on here to know you can turn a jackass into a diamond table so I'm guessing its possible to modify my jackass.

Well, here's another problem with the GC3, Brunswick never made a "Tournament Edition GC3"...so, yes it can be made to play better than a GC5, and even as good as a Diamond...but that IS going to take someone that knows what they're doing....as in no guessing to get it to that level of play....that's why I also asked what area you're in:grin:

Missed the part about what area I live in! Sorry...knoxville TN. I understand mark Gregory is the best guy in the area? Anyone have his number? Or know of anyone else?

Mark is it for that whole area, you can reach him at 770-548-4292 he's down in Atlanta, but give him a call anyway, tell him I told you to:grin:

Is he gonna charge me double if I mention your name in the conversation?! I'll give him a call and see what he has to say. Thanks for the number.

Mark does charge a little more than I do, but he told me that's because Viagra costs double down in his area:grin:
