Just wondering if anyone out there can help me. I have had my 8' custom for a couple years now but have always had a problem with 2 of my corner pockets spitting balls back out.

The pockets are leather and are very stiff. When a ball is hit directly in the center every now and then the pocket will throw the ball back out. I have tried to bend the pockets a bit to help them accept the balls but nothing seems to work for very long. Is there anything I can do that might stop this from happening?

It sounds like the pockets are not at the correct angle to angle the balls down or they are too hard. Maybe those two pockets are up against the frame making them like hitting a wall when you shoot. I would put this thread in the "Mechanic's Forum". They will know what's wrong. Johnnyt

The balls do not come out because of the speed of the shot. It is the pockets and I think it is because they are so stiff. I will post this in the mechanics section to try and find some answers.

I suffered this fate in several tourneys 10+ years ago. It's the strip of leather just below the slate line (the part that meets up with the large horseshoe shaped piece that is the top of the pocket). It forms a impromptu "cup" & if the speed of the shot is just right (and you hit the pocket perfectly in the middle)...that strip of leather will cup the ball & bounce it right back out onto the table. I don't know if there is a solution because its a bad design.
