A few pix of some rail rehab I performed on an old set of GC I rails...

Sanded and repainted rusted nut plates, drilled out and retapped broken off rail bolts, replaced "worm wood" on underside of rails with new Poplar wood.

Recalibrated pocket corner, side, and down angles; 141*, 102* and 15* respectively. Corner pockets ended up @ 4 11/16"

Recalibrated subrail to accept new Diamond K55 cushions, added 1/4" neoprene facings and Simonis 860 HR cloth.

It's a challenge, but fun whipping these old tables back into shape and hoping they will last another 50 years! :D

That's pretty good Jack, next time I'm in your area....I'm going to have to show you how to cut them sub-rails off and build some new ones:D

I was the one with this table and Jack and Todd did a great job! I am very pleased with the result. Jack was great throughout this whole process, telling me how to move the table correctly, recs on what to buy and everything I needed. I picked up the table out of a warehouse a couple months ago, had some buddies help get it in my basement. Jack did the rail work above and came over this weekend. It was nice meeting him and Todd, both great guys who were clearly a good team. They both seemed to know exactly what the other was doing next. I was impressed with the high level of detail and attention these guys paid to every step. Meticulously leveling the table, covering seams, etc.

I played for about 3 hours on Sunday night and 3 hours last night and the table plays VERY nicely. Great action on the rails, but the banks are true. Cloth is consistent and pockets are perfect. Thanks gentlemen.

I have some pics of the guys working and some finished table pics, but I can't upload til later.

Thanks for the kind words, it was a pleasure working with you!

Jack,

Excellent work as usual! One question, are the aprons missing? If so I have a spare set of GC 1 aprons. No plastic underskirts though. Ken Hash has those if you need them to complete the great restoration job.

Thanks Jay, appreciate the offer! Matt was accidentally given a set of aprons that went on a 10' GC, and we didn't realize they were the wrong size until we were actually assembling the table. Matt will be able to return the aprons to Ed Hiller and get the right ones.
