I'm curious about the distribution of responses to this. If indoor smoking is prohibited in your locality then just imagine that it wasn't.

Well in California I haven't ran across a pool hall that allows smoking inside. Though I occasionally smoke a cigarette or 2 once in awhile, I'd prefer a pool hall to be smoke free.

yes- I don't mind going outside to smoke rather than force someone else to share my habit
no- because it is an infringement of my free choice
no- others should be forced to share my addiction to accomodate me

Your options are clearly orientated, try to create an objective poll to have objective answers.

Nobody really cares about YOUR free choice. This is a matter of property rights. Does government have the power to dictate what you do with your property?

Pool and smoking in Germany

Since the non-smoking law's in Germany (a couple of yeras ago) most poolhalls have split their sites in smoking and nonsmoking areas. Me, addiced to pool and nicotine, spend about 15hrs a week at the table. I allways play in the fresh air area bc in the smokers part and go out for a cig.

I was a 2-3 pack a day smoker for way too long. Quit in 1989. Done. Hate it. Preach to my friends. Will not go into a smoking establishment.
However a business(bar, poolroom. etc) should call it's own shots. It's their place...should be their rules.

I wonder if any Tobacco stores are Smoke Free::groucho::killingme::killingme:

Hey, we haven't had this thread for what, 3 or 4 weeks now?

And people complain about the chalk threads... :p

Are you denying that tobacco is addictive?

Very true. How about spitoons and urinating in the corner?

Help me out here but when did government NOT have the power to dictate what you do with your property? In NYC, there are zoning laws that dictate how the property can be used; landmark laws dictating how the property must be preserved; liquor laws giving owners the right to sell alcohol; hygiene laws that determine how food can be prepared, stored and served; civil rights laws that prevent owners from refusing to do business with people on the basis of race.

I won't even go into a place where people are allowed to cough or sneeze. Certainly nobody is allowed to touch my body. Everyone should also have to pass biological screening to gain access to the place.

Even if the place meets those conditions, I wear a bubble suit.

And of course I absolutely believe my all-knowing government knows what is best for me, especially when it comes to managing my business.

I smoke occasionally,
I won't go to a Pool Hall that allows smoking simply because I dislike smelling like smoke {cigarettes, cigars, but don't really minid smelling like some pipe tobaccos...}
Where is the contrapositive line item in your poll that allows one to indicate that they would/wouldn't go into a pool hall that allows smokers to smoke.

It seems you're saying that if someone objects to having to inhale someone else's secondhand smoke in a public place they are suffering from a severe personality disorder. Is that correct?
