i think your gonna have to get some diameters larger than 13mm. 13 s in the middle not the largerst size the range should be from 11-14

I think the amount of people using 13.5-14mm tips is very low. I am more interested in the range from 13-11

What about the 11.75mm of the Z shaft?
I use either that or the 12.75mm of the 314.

From ten to thirteen

I have played with very light cues and small tips and with tips all of the way up to fourteen or so in a barroom. 12.25 to 12.75 is my best comfort zone right now but the actual size depends on how the stick hits.

Edited: PJ has a smaller tip than the poll allowed.

John, I use 12.75 and I have for around 30 years. I personally think that tip size directly equates pin point cue ball control. The larger the tip the harder it is to contact the cue ball at specific locations.

I think that 12.75 is the optimum size for all facets of play, except for Snooker and 3-Cushion Billiards.

My goal was to get a tip as small as possible but durable enough for all pool games. I think the only valid concerns about small tips are structural (strength and stiffness), which aren't big issues down to at least 10mm. Small tips play better (lower squirt; more visible tip placement).

After a couple of sessions of 8ball with my snooker cue with a 9.5mm tip I decided it was time to switch to the Z shaft.... so far so good.... ;)

I put 12.5 but in reality they are 12.6 on all the shafts of my primary playing cues.

Don't know why other than while tapering and turning a bunch of shafts that was the size that ended up feeling the best all around at the table.

So now thats what I turn them all too.

I shoot with an OB-1 (love it) which is a 12.75 and I believe my Pred. Brak 2 for breaking is a 13.00.....Rich

How does a 11mm shaft with a 15" pro taper feel? Is it stiff or whippy? I always thought that tip size required a straight (conical) taper for stiffness.

My 10mm tip hits stiff with a conical taper. I think an 11mm tip could use a semi-pro taper (increases in diameter, but not conical) and still hit fairly stiff. I doubt that the Predator 11mm (is that the Z shaft?) has a conical taper.

It feels great. Not whippy at all, at least not to me.

The best way I can describe the feel of the cue when striking the cue ball with force is that of solidity, intense and pleasurable vibrations coming up the shaft and into the butt and into my hand. Someone once said it felt like they were "sticking" the ball, if that makes any sense to you.

The surest way to find out how one plays and feels is to try one. I have three shafts with 11 mm tips and the 15inch pro taper. The all play fine. BTW, I wear a glove. If I didn't, the shafts would probably be too thin for me when shooting with a closed bridge.

If ever you're in Chicago and want to try it out, send me a PM.
