I guess one of the best things is coming across a thread like this, from 2008, on the front page!

There is a mountain of amazing stuff like that here in the older posts. I love seeing this stuff too.

I play around some in NPR and the Main Forum mostly. I also like looking at the cues for sale section. There is some real top notch cue porn in there from time to time.

It is interesting that the "Learning more about shooting pool (fundamentals, stroke, aiming strategies, et cetera)" has the highest vote. Though I know this poll may not be statistically significant due to the amount of traffic that frequents AzBilliards Discussion Forum, it is a representative sample. NPR fared pretty good too. :giggle:

I enjoy a variety of things. Once in a while a tidbit of knowledge regarding pool. Control freaks who lecture people on what they should and shouldn't post. Stories from the past. Videos of pool.

This is a daily visit for me to see what people are talking about.

Someone once told me on the 14.1 forum I was diminishing the forum by posting a video of 2 world champions playing a 14.1 match. The crazy people are some of the most entertaining and one reason I visit daily.

What brings you to AzBilliards, and what features about the website do you enjoy the most?

This is a blind poll. Lurkers can feel comfortable to vote, if they so desire.
I picked "Other". I check out what's going on and read the Funny Pic/Gif thread... -bes

I stumbled over this forum, and mostly only post when a big event is on.

But generally I’m impressed by most people’s balance, fairness and knowledge of cue sports . As a case in point a never expected to read so much on the UK snooker championship in a pool forum.

I went with "networking with like-minded people" but another thing I really enjoy about AZB is getting the perspectives of pro pool fans all over the world. Of course, there's no shortage of American pool enthusiasts on AZB and they are great, but it's the others that really give us a greater sense of worldwide pool. Spartan and others give us a really good sense of how Asians view the world of pro pool. For a sense of what's going on in European pro pool, we've got great posters like Poolmanis, Skogstokig, Marek and others.

AZB just wouldn't be the same without the many internationals who post here.
This prompts me to imagine/suggest that there be a clickable "Google Translate" option engineered somewhere on the AZB Home page, or at least for this Main Forum. An option with a Drop-Down listing of all the languages into which this forum can be translated.

Internet translations as recent as 10 years ago were often way off-the-mark but they are increasingly becoming quite dead-on fluent -- accurate enough for any native speakers/readers, because of the Google AI's 1,000x more radically enhanced ability to learn grammar, syntax, idiomatic speech, etc. from published fiction, scientific & medical papers, and worldwide newspapers, magazines and videos which -- by the millions -- flood the planet's internet every day . . . . Hell, I predict that a time will come when Earth's AIs will readily communicate with other sentient planets' AI's throughout the known Universe via supra-luminal, quantum entanglement sender/receiver transmitters.

In short, for now, with a well-engineered translation option, think of how enriching for our sport and forums if search engines reaching all our worldwide countries convey the fact that AZB can be read by anyone in their native language.
