I thought I’d put up a poll to see what the most preferred wrap style was for your favorite playing cue. I've played with all types of wraps on my cues over the years and in the last year I discovered that I really like the feel of a wrapless cue. Vote for your favorite and let's see which is the most popular......

I like leather wraps, but they are too fancy for this poor boy, so I stick with linen on all of my cues.

I think you're missing a bunch of categories. Leather should be broken into at least 4 categories: stack leather, textured leather, smooth leather, exotic leather. Also, cork should be added to make this poll complete...oh and don't forget the Earl Strickland rubber tennis grip.

I was given a piece of rubber from a pro that fits nicely around my break cue butt. It looks kinda weird, but it's like having rubber bands around the cue's butt. My hand couldn't slip if I tried.

James,

Through the years I've had all three wrap styles. About ten years ago, I had Evan Clarke re-work my six windows Schon to a wrapless design. After having played and loved the feel but not the hit of my Meucci DH 3, combining the solid hit of my Schon with the feel of the Meucci was (is) heaven. Still play with that cue and original near twenty year old shaft!

You are definitely missing a lot of options when it comes to wraps:eek:

Cork is the only choice for me!!

Yup! And he's missing Stingray (which is not a "leather" at all -- the bony nubs in the rubbery skin don't qualify it as "leather"). 3-cushion players will also feel left out that rubber carom grips weren't included, either. In addition, a lot of players have lots of great things to say about the Lucasi Hybrid rubber grip.

If I'm not using a rubber carom grip, I like Stingray or wrapless.

I've always been intrigued by Stingray wraps. Nice to see good things written about them. It makes my decision to get one some day that much easier.

You are right about leather wraps and I didn't want to try and list them all to keep the poll simple, but maybe I should have broken it down. I completely forgot about cork wraps......

I had never had an elephant ear wrap until my current player. I don't think it is the very best looking wrap material but it is a great choice for feel.

I've played with all 3 choices in this poll...

I currently have two cues and like the wrapless better than the pressed Irish linen.

Just plain and simple.

Some times I just plain forget there is a cue in my hands. I just see the cue ball travel down the table towards the OB and make contact....praying for a good result.

Yes, you do have two beautiful cues. Thanks for allowing me to play a couple of racks with them. Hope to see you in October. Need to visit the Grandkids again.

bryan mordt has some really killer soft leather that i had him use on my cue. i don't know what it is but that'd be my first pick. after that i figure kangaroo and stack leather would be my other picks.

nothing wrong with irish linen as long as it isn't real slick. i have and can get used to wrapless cues but i've always dug leather
