Pool 2008 Goals

I wish I practice (or play) at least 4 hours a week. (atm I do the same probably in a month)

I'd like to go up one skill level in my APA league. I have the opinion that I'm about as good now as I'm ever gonna be. But then my wife got me a certificate for two days of Pool School w/Randy G. for Christmas, and she said that Randy G. told her that after two days at his school, my current skill level will go up one or possibly two levels. We'll see. Here's your challenge Randy: Take a 55 year-old man with failing eyesight, chronic lower back spasms, and two bad shoulders coupled with years upon years of BAD shooting habits, and raise his skill level in two days. I'm going to do my very best to make it happen, and I know Randy's team will too. Wish me luck people!!!

With Randy's structured class and your desire, it will happen!

Many of our students are in their 50's and 60's and they all make tremendous improvements. It's never too late when you are willing to learn.

Anyone set their next years goal for Pool.

Like winning something big

Getting a ------- Cue, or Case?
:p

My goal is actually off the table. I'm looking to get more involved on the business side of things... seeking new and innovative sponsorship opportunities and getting out there to meet the people behind the scenes. Looking to see if I can combine my two passions and become a productive and valuable resource for the sport. (since we know I won't be able to accomplish that by playing;-) LOL)

Wish me luck:-)

Post a postive gambling winning percentage for 2008. --- Preferably a very positive gambling winning percentage.

On the table, actually learn to run 4 balls.

Hmm my goals....
1. Move up to a 7 in my APA league...( Currently a 6 )
2. Get a Introke 3x5 or 3x7 Case at a VERY good deal :)
3. Get a Varney Assasinator J/b Cue :):)
4. Maybe start gambling a lil more
5. Start taking my Practice sessions more seriously with drills instead of jsut racks of 9 and 10 ball
6. Show true class during tournaments
7. Work on my mental game!! Pleasure of Small Motions here I come!!!
8. Admit to Defeat even if it is APA rules hehe ( Might go under the True Class Goal )
9. String my first 4 pack in 9 or 10ball
10. Beat Shortman in 14.1 in a race to 150!!!!!!!!!

Is that too much to ask??? :)

My goals for pool in 2008:

Expand my knowledge of more advanced principles/techniques.

Become more consistant in my play through dedicated practice of sound fundamentals. (Make less mistakes.)

Have more fun and be less critical of myself. (Learn from my mistakes. Turn negatives into positives.)

Help less experienced players with their game whenever they ask for help. (Openly share my knowledge with others seeking advice.)

Goals....play in at least 6 tournaments.
Move to an APA level 7 in 8 ball(currently an underranked 5)
Move to an APA level 6 in 9 ball(currently an underranked 4)
BCA....not sure where I"m even supposed to be there. currently a 6 in one and 7 in the other...so moving up one in each would be a great goal.
I'd like to hit a high run of 17 in 14:1. My current is 12. Why 17? It means that I had the right break out ball and made at least 2 on the next rack.

I also want to try and play in more tournaments and maybe join a league if they are offering one within reasonable driving distance.

Learning to finish high in tournaments would be my goal. I'm used to league play, including under pressure, and I play some of my best pool when it counts the most (division championships, etc.). But in tournaments, I usually play my first match very very poorly, and in a single elimination tournament, rarely see the second round. I'll finish way below players that are nowhere near my speed. So I'd like to play enough tournaments to learn to make my finishing position accurately reflect my ability level relative to the other players.

Also, stringing racks. Lately my full table run outs (either run out off my own break, or off my opponent's dry break, which is a little harder because all the balls are still on the table) in 8, 9, and 10-ball have all become much more frequent, as I've been increasing my pocketing and positional consistency. Every time I go play lately, I'll have several full table runs. But I never string racks at all. My high run in 8-ball, 9-ball, and 10-ball are all a single rack. I feel I have the ability level to have at least a 2-pack in 8 or 9-ball, but have yet to get one.

And lastly, learning to play better 14.1 through decreasing unforced errors. I feel I see the patterns well enough, have good enough control over my stroke, and know how to manipulate the cue ball well enough to have runs in the 20's every time I play 14.1. But I almost never run more than 10 or 12, because with a wide open table, somewhere between 5 and 10 balls into the run, I'll hit a 3-foot moderate-angle shot straight into the rail. If I could stop doing that, or at least decrease the frequency a lot, I would be so much better at all games than I am now.

So those are my 3 goals, I guess. If I actually achieve them, I'll feel I can truly call myself a real player by 2009.
