Pool -- a very male dominated sport (in the wake of Cubc and OMGWTF's matchup)

They call it

'Young and dumb' for a reason. A**holes show up when someone tries to be something they are not. Seen them a million times on the tables.

A self assured man does not go around trying to pretend to be something they aren't.

Heh.

Hey, Peer.
If you want some tips, I'll give you some for a nominal fee--field-tested and proven effective against the lady herself. No refunds and, of course, no guarantees... :)

i've visited most states and there seem to be a million in every one. they might be following me but who wants my hairy ass.. thing is, i've also visited at least 120 countries, and nowhere, or extremely rarely, do you see this behavior any where but here. there's too much fake self esteem, and it might be what peer is talking about.

beers,

Do you realize just how offensive your comment is?

Imagine a gringo were to say the same thing about your home country... would it offend you?

If not, IMHO, you have a long way to go insofar as expressing your opinion in a civilized way.

OMGWTF is pretty cute, a cute girl surrounded by drunk guys is gonna get hit on. Dont matter the country or planet.

racism... xenophobia... misogyny...

No offense, but to me those "love it or leave it" statements are just too infantile to even dignify with a response. Xenophobia, anyone...?

Flex said:

No, I do not. I would think only xenophobic, racist, and misogynic people would think my comments were offensive. I'm sorry if I offended you.

On that note I may add that treating people equally -- no matter what race, gender or nationality -- might be a foreign concept to a few of you. However, I happen to come from a place that has been in the vanguard of woman's rights, whether it's giving them the right to vote, salary equities, or running the country with an administration comprised of often more women than men (in fact, in three decades, the administration has never dipped below the 40% women mark). In addition, back home women now make (slightly) more than men, while here in the US the women make 24 cents less per dollar than men. So why shouldn't women in the US get payed the same amount as men for the same job... because they got tits and vaginas..? It's so fukking disingenuous. And how about racism -- just look at the out-of-whack incarceration proportion related to race -- obviously the legal system isn't very color blind.

However, I understand that some people want me out of this country, especially when I point out things like xenophobia, racism, and misogyny which is quite prevalent here. But I guess that's also the dichotomy of being xenophobic. Hence, I think I'll hang around here a bit longer, (besides, I don't like to be told what to do).

So I guess you have then been to a few different countries on this planet..?

You are so correct. Besides from being well traveled and educated, obviously you're also among those who can read and think.

Thank you, but unfortunately I think I could already write an "Idiot's Guide to Dating -- What Not to Say and Do" based entirely on personal experiences. And no, I'm not very proud of it.

Any citizen of the US should be offended

(definition of prevalent)
1. widespread; of wide extent or occurrence; in general use or acceptance.
2. having the superiority or ascendancy.

Any citizen of the US should be offended. As you often do, you have made a sweeping negative statement concerning the US or it's citizens. As usual, your statement is false also. The mindset exists just as it does in every country in the world where human beings do. It is hardly prevalent.

Money can't buy every women, but it bought enough of them for me. I'm not talking hookers here. Money can't buy you love.....BS. Johnnyt

Unless I'm practising with someone from whom I can learn something, I shoot alone, and I always wear my mp3 player when I play. Regardless, some random guy, usually a ballbanger, approaches me with a barrage of questions.

Although I hate to seem rude, my answers now are short and to the point. Otherwise, they stay and ask more questions. I just want to make up a bunch of index cards with FAQ to hand out:

Q: Are you here by yourself? Do you want someone to play with? Can I play with you?
A: Yes, no, and no.

Q: What are you listening to?
A: 4GB of literally everything.

Q: Does that (listening to an mp3 player) help you concentrate?
A: Not when people interrupt me.

Q: Ooh, you shoot good for a girl.
A: Thank you.

Q: Do you play in a league?
A: No.

Q: Why are you barefoot?
A: I'm not comfortable playing in shoes.

And the thing is, I'm not that great. I'm alright. Some guys just can't believe that a girl can't be by herself without some sort of chaperone or something.

Do you agree that there seems to be no polite way to tell someone you aren't interested? I feel like no matter how nicely I say it, I will always come across at the "B*tch"...

I say be nice saying no the first time...the second...hit them with both barrels between the eyes...or lower. What part of NO don't they understand? Johnnyt

I try very hard to say "No Thank You" in the kindest of ways but any kind of no seems to be taken the wrong way. It's like, why did you ASK a yes or no question if you knew you'd be offended by the possible "no" answer. It's not personal. Sometimes I just want to play on my own. Sometimes I have something in particular I'm practicing or trying to warm up. Just b/c you're a man and I'm a women, DOESN'T mean I automatically swoon at your favor.

Cute Story:
Lodini and I are shooting scotch doubles at a bar one night and we've been beating everyone there for a couple of hours. Guy comes up to me and says, "you should put you're name on the chalkboard if you want to play." I tell him I'm currently playing right now with Lodini and he says to me, "yeah, but me and my boy are up next and we'll never lose to two girls!"

(Talk about offensive!!! ... and totally the wrong thing to say to me! Lodini's face when I told her what they said was priceless  )

Lodini and I crushed them. They walked out without even a handshake cursing that girls can't play pool, we got lucky, we cheated, anything but that they simply got beat! Course the crowd might have fed the ego-swallowing lack of politeness! ;)

It still amazes me when a man loses to a women and the guy's friends all say, "I can't believe you just lost to a girl!" Like it's shocking or something!! WTF??

I find the "A" players will give you some credit

I have found in my past experiences that the players who give you some credit are the ones that play well. They all have played good women players. And they all have the experience to know there is some good talent in the womens field in this country. The players who dont take it well are usually bangers. So, for me, I just ignore it because its really not worth my time to get upset over a nit that doesnt know what he is talking about. LOL I take the high road!!!!!

Okay, Okay. On the flip side, I wish I could go hit balls just once without, "Hey, teach me oh pool guru." Or, "take me to your place and teach me." It really gets old. I know how some of you ladies feel. Some women also need to learn some tact. Can't some women take a hint after you tell them that you are getting into punch for the next tourney? Hey, I don't mind if they pull up chairs and clap and sh#$, but no touchy stuff until I get into stroke. AFTER I hit a few, then maybe we can be sociable.

You are absolutely right about this. The higher ranked players normally DO appreciate all dedicated player's games regardless of gender.

Norway has it's problems just like the rest of us.

http://www.imow.org/wpp/stories/viewStory?storyId=178

Sadly, violence against women is the same in "Kingdom" of Norway as it is here in the United States. Roughly 1 in 4 women suffer some form of domestic violence in both countries. Worldwide the estimate is 1 in 3. (Anyone can look this up themselves)

Might want to get off that Norwegian high horse.
