Two thumbs up for Babineau's. Great food, Gold Crowns, lots of leagues. Paul (the owner) treats people right

from what I remember having lived there a year ago:
babineau's is a fun place to play, but huge buckets for pockets, there's one nicely set up table there with reasonable pockets, the rails/cloth is just ok.

Try brass tap and billiards: they have at least a few excellent tables. hit table 12 and you'll see what I mean.

You got it, my brother. Just pm me and I'll give you within a half a ball on every swingin' di#$ in the area. Babineaus is a nice place. Good food, drink, and good equipment. All in all, probably the nicest room in Raleigh or Cary. Action? As long as they don't know you, you're fine. Put a rack together, you're done. There are some players in there, it's just that "the unknown" might deter them.

Brass Tap. I don't get along with one of the employees for a couple of reasons (personal) so I quit frequenting the joint. Plus, unless you're in the clique there, forget anything more than $25 dollar sets or $10 one pocket. You have to be on the "inside." You can get action, but you have a ball the worst of it if anyone in there sets it up. We all call it the "Brass Trap." There is money there, though. Unless you play Sparky, Fuller, BJ level, look forward to matching up in someone else's favor. As bad as I hate to admit it, the Thursday night tournament is great. It is ranked 2-12? Johnny being a twelve. But there is always a local few that are two balls underranked.

NY Billiards, eeehhhh, not my kind of place. FRUFRU?

Jump Shots in Durham. Action to be had on Diamonds.

A couple of new places just opened. Haven't ventured there, yet.

Fuquay's new place is very nice with Diamonds. Very nice.

I play in a place, Sharkey's, with bad equipment and very loud. Great food and scenery, though.

PM me and I'll give you my number.

On the outskirts of Raleigh, you will find WAY more action. Talk to ya later and I'll make you a "little black book."

Just put it up for us!
Come one now, you know I can't divulge all of my "spots." How could I cover my trip to Disneyworld this year for the kids? By playing guys that can fire two racks back at me? Of course not. I'm just glad most of the guys in this area don't read this.

You know, I was thinking about this. If I did put together a "Black Book," with all of the Carolinas, Eastern Tenn, and lower VA in it, what's THAT worth? Come on, come with a figure. I'm listening. I mean including the hole in the wall places that are worth $2-500 as an addition. Not just the players and poolrooms. I mean the easy stuff as an added.

Hmm... I'll be in Raleigh for the weekend of Sept. 18-19th... taking Dad to his WWII army division reunion (what's left of'em)... may try and get out evenings after he's conked out... and since I'll be driving up, I can easily bring my case... :D

PM me and I will guide you better than Little Two Dogs Barking, my friend.

Now's a good time to come up to Raleigh. There will be a lot of tourneys in July, August, and September as the US Open gets closer.

I frequent Babineau's, Brown's, and On the Snap. I pretty much only go into Brass Trap for tourneys. I love TC to death, but there's an element in his room I'd just rather not be around. Anyway, in addition to the rooms Keith mentioned, there's also Hot Shots, Snookers, Olivers, Rack'em Up West, Champions, Pantanas, and several smaller rooms. None of these are barbox rooms, though, if that's what you're looking for.

There are a couple of Jacoby $1k events coming up, Hooker's Carolinas Open in Goldsboro, a $25k added tournament in Fayetteville (forgot the name of the room) in August, and a slew of US Open qualifiers in and around Raleigh, in addition to all the weekly tourneys.

I'll play cheap sets with pretty much any AZ'er. If you're interested in tough action, PM me and I'll set you up with Mike Fuller or Robert Ray.

Yep, I played RR a little the other night. Hell, just PM me for the action info. Tourneys? Just not my style, but I might be able to help with weekly stuff. There's plenty of poolrooms here. Just not POOLROOMS. Talkin' to ya.

If your moving to Butner. Randy's Billiards is right down the road. Gold Crowns in decent shape. girl's will dance on the bar sometimes too.

Where the hell is Randy's? You mean there's a joint within a hundred miles I haven't been to? Talk to me, friend.

Take Creedmoor Rd. (Hwy 50) north. You can make a little dipsy-doodle to get on 15. Randy's will be on the right. It's probably about the size of Snooker's.

Anything go on there? I've never heard of it. Unbelieveable, I thought I knew every nook and cranny of our area. Wait a minute, I have been there. You walk in and the bar is straight back with tables on the right behind a wall. They were gonna call someone. (Fuller)

That's probably it - I've only been there twice, but I do remember Mike was there.

Action in Raleigh

I have been in this pool thing for 19 years, my parents have owned a pool room (Brown's for 15 years) and I have worked in pool rooms for 19 years. I have traveled all over the country and seen all types of rooms and players. Dropped out of college to follow around pool players just to watch tournaments and action so I feel comfortable in saying what I have to say.

I set up this AZ Billiards Forum Account so I could post upcoming tournament information about the Brass Tap but I see now, after reading some posts today, I may have to defend the place that has been my second home for many years. To the outside looking in, the Brass Tap is quite intimidating, especially to those who have a B or C game but still it is a great place to see whether or not you have the heart or the balls, for that matter, to gamble!

We have 18 Gold Crown tables, 4 of which have the tightest pockets in Raleigh. There is always some kind of action and we have the largest group of One Pocket Players in the triangle. Our tournaments cater to the players, we raise money for charities and have benefits that raise money for our FRIENDS in times of need. The Brass Tap is a staple in Raleigh and will always be that way. We change to meet the times and want to make EVERYONE feel welcome and want everyone to come back!

Yeah, you can get on this forum and say you don't like the place and that you don't like some of the people that work there, but how well do you really know them. Oh, you got matched up bad in a tournament, you were told you play too slow, you heard another room owner bad mouth the place so you are jumping on the band wagon... I challenge anyone to go toe to toe to Tony's contribution to pool and generosity to the community.

Better than that, I challenge you to come back to the Brass Tap and give it another try. Tell me what made you so unhappy and I will try to make it right. I work a full time job that pays REALLY WELL and I work at the Brass Tap part time for fun so I am not just a bartender trying to drum up business!

So to keep this posting in line with the original, there is ALWAYS action at the Brass Tap, we actually have some kids from West Virginia and Ohio VISITING now AND most importantly you are always welcome to visit!

If you are coming to Raleigh send me a message!! :D
