Pool Art

Recently, I was contacted by a fellow from Arizona who wanted to show me an art form he is working on. I sent him a picture of three road warriors from the action era, representing three decades, Billy Incardona, Keith McCready, and Jimmy Reid.

This is one art form known as the Andy Warhol sketch. What do you think? I'm going to get me one of these and frame it. What a great idea for a pool-related present (IMO).

Here is one sketch. What do you think?

Here's the same photo done in a hand-drawn sketch format. I love it. Which one do you all think is cool?

I like it, too! I'm hoping the artist sees this thread and will respond. He's got an innovative and new product in the form of pool art. It doesn't necessarily have to be restricted to pool-related themes.

I'm going to get me a picture of my family at the Malloy and McCready ranch and see if this fellow can transform it for me and then I will get it framed, to include JAM, Earthquake, Sammy the black lab, and my two cats, 8-ball and Willie. :p

I think these are really cool. :)

Realistic????????

The Pics Are Good But The One Of Keith Well Its Obvious His Nose Is About Half The Size It Should Be And About Half As Red...he Needs More Of The W.c Fields Look

Here is the original photo I took of Billy, Keith, and Jimmy last year at the 2004 U.S. Open. Billy Incardona asked me to please send him a copy of this photo, and I am going to see if I can get one of these "sketches" framed and give it to Billy and Jimmy as a present.

Great idea and great art work. I like this portrait the best. JAM, if you and Keith go to Hilton tourney (Cherry Hill) then maybe I can get one done too w/ my son :D :D .

Just a quick question JAM.

Is the artist actually drawing or painting these pictures, from the original pictures, or, is he manipulating the original picture, using one of the photo editing programs?
To me, it looks like the later.

I'm just curious.

It is good work, whatever the method. :D

Hey Jam,

These pic's are totally awesome, I really like the hand-drawn sketches.

Like you said, they will make for great gifts.

If you get any more info, please pass it along.

I'm not sure of the method, Rich, but I definitely like the end product. Here is one of his own pet, Tito the cat. Check out the detail!

OMG! If there is anything on this earth that is as awesome as pool and music it would be art. I love these JAM!!! This guy definitely needs to make himself known, not just to the pool public, but to the whole public.

I have to agree with Rich on this one, it looks like the original photo was digitally manipulated, but it is still awesome. IMO, in art, the end effect is what counts, not the technique!

FYI- a frequent poster and friend of mine, Deanna Michelle, is a pretty good artist/ graphic designer in her own right. I have seen some pretty awesome stuff that she has done also. Here is an awesome photo that she did. (I hope you don't mind me sharing this Dea, but you did post it in the NPR forum so I figured it was free game...if I am wrong, let me know and I'll take it down.) It is of a 9ball orange grove:

JAM,

I'm happy your HAPPY!!

1st off...these images were created using Photoshop via computer. They aren't 'hand' done per se. But I do put my heart and soul into creating them. It's a new process I have been working on for 3 years or so, modifying this and that to achieve the look I'm after. It's over a hundred step process using Photoshop to create a 'sketch'.

I can create several 'looks'. From simple pencil sketches, watercolors, full color sketches, to "fun' stuff ..such as caricatures, and special effects. And I also do photo-retouching.

What is needed....a high quality digital Image taken with a minimum of 2 mega-pixels,Or a file size greater than 200 KB. The better the photo, the better the sketch turns out.

As far as pricing.... it depends on what your looking for! I can supply images of any size, from wallets all the way up to 30 X 60 poster. And everything in between.

As JAM stated, it doesn't have to be pool related either! Just to show you, I did some 'sketches' of my Cat and Granddaughter also. They turn out WONDERFUL!

It's nice to have a piece of 'Art' hanging on your wall. Especially if it's you or loved ones in IT! They are 'ONE of a kind' and your guaranteed not to see it anywhere else.

I added a few sketches to my site, so you may view them. They are located at...... http://www.pbase.com/rixx/pool_images

Sent you an E Mail...

Thanks for the compliments once again!

Rick S.

looks like all he did was "posterize" a photo in an image editor. you can do the same

I know what I'd really, really like. I'm going to take a photo with my family standing in front of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., and then, after Rick S, does his digital magic to it, I am going make my own Christmas cards. The possibilities are endless! :p
