Pool/Billiard Eye Glasses

I've needed glasses for about 20 years now. When I tried to wear glasses back then, it really affected my game, so i chose not to wear them. I've tried contacts in the past, and just can't get use to them. Through the years, i'm finding my vision is really, really bad from the eys straining.

Doing some online research today, i found a website that sells "Billiard" eye glasses. Can anyone tell me if these these really work?

I have thought of buying a pair of those myself, but they are so dorky looking. If you search on youtube for snooker, you will see a very good snooker player wearing them.

I'm thinking Dennis Taylor. Goofy looking, but a world champion snooker player with those glasses...

i wear glasses all the time . i have a pair just for pool the lenses are much larger than my every day pair.screw how it looks!!!!!

if you are talking about the optometrist in Canada that makes them then yes, they are good.

I got a pair some time ago. I can see distance but have trouble focusing closer shots. I wish now that I had have got the progressive lenses in them. They certainly are large enuff for that.

Either way, the DR. is a very good guy and will work with you on what you need and the glasses are cheap enuff as well.

When I first started having problems with them, I got in touch with him and he told me to get another eye test with me wearing them and he would fix them up for me. Definitely a good guy that way. He won't leave you hanging.

For the few times that I use them, it wasn't important to me to go thru the hoops but it did show me that he wasn't a rip artist either.

Next time I go for an eye test, if I don't need a change in lenses, I will most likely have them changed to progressive.
Work pays for them so no cost to me.

my 2cents

Last time @ the optoitrist I ordered a pair of single vision w/bigger round lenses. They help But I'm looking towards Lasic Surgery???? Has anyone out there tried that?? Have you looked into that?? Might be worth a shot but some feedback would be great on that subject for many.

Thats the guy right there I mentioned. Much cheaper than a regular pair.

I was checking locally, but the time you buy a set of frames to have altered and pay for the scrip, you are far more ahead of the game to just buy them from the Dr. who specializes in them.

From a regular Dr. I would have easily paid twice as much for a pair.

He won't rip you off and if there is a problem after you get them, he is willing to make them right.

glasses

I bought a pair of AVIATOR style frames with the hinges mounted in the center of the glass frames, much like Paul Newman in the Hustler. I had them set up with my distant setting and a bifocal cut low, like a half moon, with my reading prescription.
Been that way since 2000.

Decot's work. I had my prescription made for optimum vision 3 ft to 12 ft and they helped. The adjustable bridge is cool.

Really appreciate all the responses. My eye doctor told me that i'm not a candidate for lasik. I would much rather get that if it would help me.

Just looked up Decot. Great looking glasses. Also good to know that the Dr. in canada is a good guy to work with.

Like, Blue, I to had glasses made by Dr. Harris.
Excellent service, good price, and although I felt that I looked a little dorky wearing them, I played so much better that feeling went away the first day.
The moral here is: Better to look like a dork than to shoot like a blind man.

My local optometrist told me he could make a pair for me. It's just a matter of adjusting the the prescription for the correct range of distance.

If you can wear glasses with 40mm lenses (on the smaller side) and shoot pool comfortably with that size, I would suggest you possibly look into SuperFocus glasses.

www.superfocus.com

I would give 100% recommendation for these glasses if people wear bifocals or progressive lenses for their day to day activities. I wear them everyday, but I don't wear them for pool. These glasses can be adjusted for ANY focus from close-up to infinity.

They will make you look like Harry Potter or John Lennon, but I don't care what they look like as long as I can see clearly. There is a new frame coming out shortly that has a more modern look, but it isn't available to the public just yet. (In edit, I see they already have the new frames on their site).

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. You can try them free for 30 days and if you don't like them they will take them back with no problems. If you use my recommendation number (#1590), they will give you a 10% discount.

This is the first time i've ever seen these super focus glasses. Very cool. I'm just not sure if the frame would bother me when shooting. Do you know if any other pool players are able to play in these? thanks again.

My local opto also told me they could make the same thing i got from the doc in montreal, the only difference was that they would charge me about triple what he did...lol.

After visiting the website it does look as though the price is right. I think my local doc would probably charge more than that.
