Pool Champ AND a Minister from the 1960s?

akaTrigger

Hi!
Silver Member
Anyone know of any Baptist ministers who were also a billiard / pool champion in the 1960's? Specifically 1968?

A friend of mine is looking for someone.... and any info would be greatly appreciated!

We don't know which state or which billiard game...

Thanks!

A friend of mine took lessons in the 60's from a guy by the name of Don ( The Preacher) Feeney in Chicago. Not sure if this is the guy your looking for. Don ran 200 balls in straight pool, had a perfect game of snooker, and ran 15 straight points in 3 cushion all in the same week. I'm not even for sure if he was a priest but they called him the preacher.

A reply, thanks!

I don't know if he was a real preacher for not, but I don't think that's him.

Anyone else happen to know of a Baptist minister that won a state championship in 1968?

No, but I do know a of a porn star from 1974 that could play pool.... close enough? I saw this one old school flick that had them starting out a game....

No idea, but it made me laugh reading that.

The pool hall I started in had more sinning in it than any bar I've been to. They gambled on everything, drugs and alcohol were plentiful and they were running guns out of there. The owners who I worked for were sent to prison because they were running guns (as in fully auto guns), selling pounds of weed and coke. I can just imagine a Minister walking into there and having an aneurysm.

That would be Martin Luther King. He went on the road but couldn't get a game. so he took up a new line of work. Hope that helps.

P.S. Steve Lillis the Chaplain of the UPA, was an active player in the 70's. He gambled and played tourneys back then.

Still looking

Thanks for the posts... I think....

Someone is looking for a long lost relative, so if anyone happens to know of a Baptist minister that won a state championship in 1968, please let me know so I can pass the info on to them.

Wish I could help out - that'd be awesome if someone found a relative due to advice from AZBilliards.com forums!
