I'm gonna guess that a lot, if not most of the people on here have seen this movie. I would watch it again simply because its a movie about playing pool, but I have to say there is some terrible acting and cheesy ass lines in this flick.

Terrible acting and cheesy lines is pretty much what defines this movie. It's not the greatest plot by far but with the chessy lines and terrible acting it seems just right.

Mars Callahan :rotflmao:

Chris Walken was awesome!!! (obviously)
My favorite line is "I'm a Millionaire!!!"
Great flick :D

I personally liked it better than 9 ball the movie..talk about cheesy acting

Well, on a positive note, the girlfriend was a pleasure to look at!!!

I like when he is at the rich guy's party and the waiter with the tray of champagne walks by. Mars calls him "handsome". I laugh every time.

Are you kidding me. Cheesy lines.. they're all awesome..
even if you win you can't win
take that you motherless mother...........
You missed the signs joe, you didn't listen, see me and Johnny, we n*****

I bet you didn't like shooting Gallery either

I liked it even though Ricky Schorder could have use a better cue than that graphite POS. Come on really?? A pro caliber hustler using a Graphite Cue?? Well..... I guess that could work right???

For sure. I really can't disagree. The first time I watched it I missed he first few minutes. The next time I saw it I picked up on the reference to promoter toupee Jay that I hadn't seen the first time. The character was played by mike Siegel, but of course was in reference tomournown Jay Helfert.

I continued to watch Shooting Gallery only because I love pool so much. I feel like it was one of those movies that thought it was a masterpiece when it was barely mediocre. Basically it felt like I had to listen to some pretentious bastard, rant for an hour and a half. Like I'm supposed to be impressed or something... I liked some of the pool playing sequences but Freddy Prinze Jr is such a bag (doucebag). Ving Rhames on the other hand was as good as ever. Not to mention the girl was "HOT"!!!

I didn't say I didn't like the movie. Just said it had some cheesy lines. But I agree, they're still great lines. That's what makes the movie what it is. Its still about pool so I loved it regardless. And Christopher Walken is great in any roll. I've only seen it once and I missed the first 20 minutes or so. I'm sure I'll watch it a few dozen more times and pick up on more good stuff. I haven't seen Shooting Gallery or 9 ball the Movie as someone else mentioned. I'll have to keep my eye out for those.

I love the end credits when they're betting on whether or not the girls tits are real, and dude says "don't ever go swimming, you'll drown" lol.

I'm on the side of it's pretty dam entertaining movie. I thought many of the pool elements were passable, albeit sensationalized to fascinate the public's uneducated eye. I do think Johnny and Brad could surely give SVB the last 3 lol. The drama was good. Johnny acted respectably and who doesn't love Walken??

Thanks ClassicCues for the link. I just watched the whole thing again!

In the very beginning it says it a Newman/Tooley (sp?) movie. Was that Paul Newman?
